“That’s the third time he’s downed a shot before the dare, I don’t think he understands the rules, or he just wants to get reeeally drunk.” JJ toasts. A grin on his face as he downs the last bit of his beer as if he, also, doesn’t understand the rules.
“I daaare yoooou….” Hayden singsongs, speech slightly slurred as he leans back, considering. “To play gay chicken with Shane.”
“What?” Shane’s head snaps towards Hayden. “I’m not even playing the game!”

Ilya dug deeper into the bag and pulled out a sturdy, leather dog collar, dark brown and buckled. Quick as a wink, he held it up, dangling it directly at Shane’s neck. "You make cute puppy. Shchenok Shane."
Shane glared, his face heating up instantly, and slapped Ilya's hand away. "Stop it!"

Summary
In an AU where Shane joins the Montreal Metros the same year he's drafted, Ilya stays in Russia and Shane is pretty pissed off about it. He's released to go to the 2010 World Junior Championships in Helsinki, Finland because he wants his rematch, damn it, and because he wants to try to convince his rival to get to the MLH as soon as possible and make things interesting.
When Shane discovers Ilya may not have stayed in Russia of his own free will, he puts together a crack team of

“So, you can replace it,” Shane replied patiently.
“I will be too busy to replace the hot tub. Then I will have a long day, and I will decide to have a soak in my rancid hot tub, and then I will catch diphtheria and die.” Rozanov looked at Shane, accusatory. “You want me to die?”
Shane looked down. The hot tub looked no more or less rancid than any other hot tub. “I don’t think you can get diphtheria from a dirty hot tub.”
“You are doctor now?” Rozanov asked, and Shane stayed silent.
Shane Hollander is a realtor who works with the Ottawa Centaurs to find properties for new players.
