Summary
Choi Seungcheol-ssi, Mina had said with an encouraging smile. Not one of the more memorable members of his group as far as Jeongyeon is concerned. She likes Boo Seungkwan well enough, especially the way he still grovels at Momo’s feet for a mistake he made forty-five thousand years ago. Gay or not, more men should be like that.
“Kissing?” Seungcheol asks now. Jeongyeon wants to be taken out back and shot.
“Good with me,” chirps Mina.
“No,” grits Jeongyeon.
“Okay,” says Seungcheol.

“Kissing?” Seungcheol asks now. Jeongyeon wants to be taken out back and shot./
Wants to show Seungcheol how, show him up./
To be honest, Jeongyeon isn’t sure she really even likes sex. She doesn’t think about it much, and it’s unclear if that’s a symptom or the result of idol life. So oversaturated by beauty that all the edges have been shaved off, that desire is some abstract idea that she can take out of the drawer and dust off/
Princess Mina’s ugly side, more beautiful than any fan could dare to dream of./
Blinking slow, Seungcheol’s brows knit together. He looks boyish, puppyish, the way songs used to sound from boygroups when they debuted—please go out with me, I’m clumsy, you make my heart race, you’re the song in my heart type shit. Innocent, Jeongyeon realizes, which only serves to confuse her more./
“No fingers,” reminds Mina, protective. Her brow is furrowed, eyes watching Jeongyeon like a hawk. Like a bodyguard. A queen, ruling over all that is hers./
Even if she was spinning off-kilter, her axis askew, there were eight other planets that had to keep circling the sun, or else she'd come to and there would be a black hole where the universe used to be.

Summary
“You’re back,” he says. It comes out rather bland. A stated fact. A man trying to convince himself he’s still breathing.
Jeonghan’s smile falls. A crease appears between his eyebrows. The same one that Seungcheol used to love smoothing out with the pad of his thumb. “Seungkwannie didn’t tell you?”
(OR: A year after leaving Seungcheol to pick up the pieces of what they could have been, Jeonghan comes home.)

Summary
The evening time still makes Chan think of him. Right before the heat fades to cold. A shooting star in the sky. New calves in the spring with their pretty eyes, looking at him just how Soonyoung used to.
Chan figured that if he ever saw Soonyoung again, it would be far away from here— not behind the counter at his aunt’s bar. That Soonyoung would be doing perfectly fine without him, living like the fire under his ass so desperately begged him to.
But, here Soonyoung is— and Chan can’t do anything other than stand still as he’s mawed from throat to belly, guts spilt on the creaky wooden floor under his boots. Scrambling to hold himself together, picking his heart up from off the floor before Soonyoung can step on it one more time, just for good measure.
(OR: Two years after he broke Chan's heart, Soonyoung comes home.)

Summary
A wild laugh escapes from Seungcheol’s throat. He’s clearly desperate. It’s a little bit funny, honestly. “They’re all so annoying, but I needed them to stop bothering me, so I just told them I have a boyfriend. And that he’s coming with me. So they can all shut up.”
Jeonghan pulls one hand free to grab a packet of creamer. “And you couldn’t think of anyone else to pathetically beg?”
“No, they asked me his name and—”
“You said me?”
“No, I said Yoon Jeonghan,” Seungcheol corrects.
(OR: Seungcheol needs Jeonghan to pretend to be his boyfriend, and Jeonghan needs to stop pretending he’s allergic to love.)

Summary
The truth is, the human eye is completely incapable of seeing in the absence of light. Many do not understand this—naive, overconfident first-timers often mistakenly declare that they're able to see two or three inches away, even within completely blackness.
They are wrong.

It looks like any other cave, really. But it's not just any cave. It's theirs. They found it, they're the first ones to ever go down through here. Chan's the first one—and has anyone else ever gone this deep here, before them? Before the earth enclosed this space, before it became lost to the surface?/
The car comes to a halt right beside him, and Soonyoung jumps out, his bag slung over his shoulder. "You're in trouble," he says, voice flat.
