Your dreams are the only chance I get to be separate from you, to see you. I... I don't think you remember them in the morning. You don’t seem to remember me at all. You pause, sometimes, but I can never tell what you're thinking or feeling.
I never realized you had such an imagination, Nonagesimus. Some of them seem like you could have pulled them right out of my comics. (Don’t even try to tell me you haven’t read them, I know you used to go through my stuff. Maybe my soul being tucked in with yours is rubbing off on you too.) Some of them seem like a perfectly regular life in a world that definitely isn’t ours. And others are more familiar, our lives but a little to the left.
(remember chapters 40-42 of htn? yeah i shoved it in my bag and sprinted into the night. 9 different AUs. one lovely comic. have fun!)

Summary
It'd been two years since Gideon Nav gathered her wine key and her gaming license and escaped The Locked Tomb, a speakeasy-style cocktail bar managed by the hateful Harrowhark Nonagesimus. Now, dealing tables at The Mithraeum Hotel & Casino, things were really looking up. So when Gideon scored a date with the most beautiful showgirl in the Gilded Halls of Ida, the last thing she expected was to wake up married to her old nemesis and former coworker.
The story starts the night of Gideon's date and alternates between the events leading up to the wedding and the weeks that follow as Gideon tries to navigate life married to someone who claims to want nothing more than to forget she exists.

Summary
Space is big and colorful and exciting and Gideon Nav, of the boring ice-pit mining colony on Berel IX, wants to join Starfleet and see all of it.
Instead she picks up a weird, mean, unhealthily bone-obsessed passenger and gets sucked into a millenium-old religious conflict (like you do). Turns out roaming the universe kicking ass and getting babes isn't as simple as it looks in the holos.
(TNG-era Star Trek universe crossover.)

Summary
The day after Gideon Nav’s birth, the town of Drearburh, TX saw her mother hanged from a Lyctor’s Tree, that her soul should be condemned to oblivion and her bones dance eternal as punishment for a crime so terrible no one’s ever dared mention it again. But this morning at dawn the sheriff found the tree struck by lightning, her noose cut, and her bones gone. Gideon can’t lay hands on her mother’s old repeating rifle, either. Something has compelled the dishonorable dead to hunt, and Gideon, a ranch hand with a decent sword arm but no idea where to start, needs help. Enter Sister Harrowhark Nonagesimus, a nun more interested in bone magic than offering spiritual comfort, and a childhood terror of Nav’s. She might be a great help if they can get along for five minutes, and if Gideon can convince her to stop obsessing over why the Western, Central, and Union Pacific Railroad Companies seem to be forging track with bone dust and quenching it in blood.

Summary
“This is Harrowhark Nonagesimus,” said Palamedes.
Harrow’s eyes were wide: lightless pools with shock waves rippling through them, as though a rock had just been thrown through them. Gideon knew hers probably were, as well. Everything had gone numb, and all she could do was stare, motionless, as Harrow blinked twice, hard, as if slamming a pair of shutters closed—and then, instantaneously, her face was utterly blank.
“A pleasure to meet you,” Harrow said, stiffly. And then—slowly, jerkily—she lifted her hand and reached forward towards the front seat.
The highlight of every single day of Gideon Nav’s high school experience has been checking off one more box on the countdown calendar until graduation, when she can free herself eternally of both Catholic school and Harrowhark Nonagesimus in one fell swoop. For years she’s been dreaming of the moment she can walk out the doors of Saint Anastasia High one final time, looking back only to give Harrow a wink and the bird over her shoulder on her merry way to Canaan University. So she’s kind of a whole lot less than thrilled when Harrow ends up FOLLOWING her THERE.

Summary
“I have been lax.” There’s activity in the hallway now — her ten minutes are almost up, and a few actors are trickling into the auditorium from their impromptu breaks. Harrow keeps her voice at a murmur. “I have allowed you far more freedom than anyone else — cast and crew included. I have tolerated your chronic lateness, the constant interruptions, your propensity for inappropriate jokes. I will not tolerate the existence of a subpar performance due to the simple fact that our fight coordinator refuses to show up.”
By the end of the week, Harrow’s going to have a permanent injury from grinding her teeth this fucking much. She can feel it.
Or: Harrow is an overworked stage manager doing her best to keep their university's production of Hamlet from falling apart during technical rehearsals, Gideon is missing fencing practice to serve as fight captain, and they've got quite a bit of mutual history to work out before opening night.

Summary
Their life together was a joint project, one tackled over four years of navigation and arguing and disorganized sleep schedules and bookshelves and kitchen cabinets overflowing with ugly mugs and chipped plates. Four years of trying, and not blaming the other if they failed, because their relationship was built on more than a decade of intrinsic knowledge.
But that’s only friendship. All she wants is friendship. She cannot want anything more.

Summary
Try to remember, spoke the voice, as Gideon blinked away tears. Gideon, you have been asleep for the past 100 years.
Spots swam in her vision. Abruptly, Gideon realized she stood on a cliff. There was a sheer drop only a few feet in front of her. But Gideon’s eyes were locked on the distance: in between the green trees and crumbling ruins studding the landscape, there was a castle. And around the castle throbbed a malignant and swirling shadow.
The beast, spoke the voice. When the beast regains its true power, the Nine Houses will face their end. Gideon — you must hurry. Save them. Before it’s too late.
“What,” said Gideon, “the fuck?”

Summary
Gideon is getting her first tattoo from the world-renowned shop her buddies Cam and Pal work at. But the artist is none too friendly. Harrow's newest client is an overgrown, red-haired puppy whose exuberance overstimulates her too easily. So they hate each other, obviously, but the rules of tattoo etiquette say that another artist won't finish what Harrow has started. So they're stuck together until the ink is dry. Sure would be annoying if they were to fall in love along the way...

Summary
What matters is that the soft couches and chairs muffle the clink of ceramic and the incessant chatter, preventing the atmosphere from overwhelming her. The lights are dim, Harrow can get a steamed milk, and she and her study partner can spread their eight hundred textbooks out over the corner booth and make serious progress on their project for ARCH 309, Archaeological Science.
After a K-12 career plagued by Gideon Nav’s absurd and insulting chivalry, Harrowhark Nonagesimus goes to college, looking forward to a future forever free of redheaded menaces. She’s got a freshly declared major, a study partner almost as smart as she is, and a new favorite coffee shop that offers menu items she can actually consume.
Her optimism lasts until Palamedes Sextus holds their group project hostage, forcing her to attend a rugby game as his moral support. There, on the pitch, muddy and bloody and beaming, Gideon Nav scores a try. And then-- to compound the indignity-- Palamedes drags her to the drink-up afterward.
For the first time in her life, Harrow finds herself enmeshed in a friend group-- and even worse, that friend group includes Gideon Nav.

"This lab turns out to be just as horrible as all the others. The door stands black and sterile in the nondescript gray hallway, this time with a hard screen of clear plex centered in it that allows a view inside the lab. The plex is painted with a series of fine white lines, and on these lines are letters. The letters spell out: REVELATION. Gideon and Harrow peer through the glass, assessing. Inside, the gray and black theme continues uninterrupted, but for what appears to be an exquisite plinth of rich mahogany wood. And upon this squats the box."
In which Harrow and Gideon must complete a lab challenge, with a whole other type of key.

Your mind was fuzzy, indistinct. And then it was clear, the rushing staticky noise gone, your ears ringing hollow in the vacancy that was left. You took comfort in its familiarity, as it was like—you were ten and learning about all the major blood vessels of a human body; learning about its fragility, its ichor, its downfall. You remember thinking, just cut this open and bleed out fatally within twenty minutes. You remember thinking, no one would notice. Wish yourself godspeed.
Exploring Harrow (and Gideon), in a modern setting.

"You're never gonna make it, sweetheart," Gideon taunted, lips mere inches from Harrow's ear. A bead of sweat rolled down her nose and landed on Harrow's cheek.
"I am not your sweetheart," Harrow seethed. She tried to step to the side, but Gideon was right there, and they were pressed up against each other again. Harrow pushed her shoulder against Gideon's chest. She didn't budge.

Summary
Gideon woke up floating, disoriented. Her bedroom was cloaked in the full dark of night, muggy with humidity. Her ceiling fan struggled to provide a sluggish breeze, going about one rotation per hour. Gideon felt an unfortunate kinship; it felt like her brain was swimming at the same rate.
She took inventory of the situation:
1. Her mouth tasted like regret and beer.
2. She was fully clothed, shirt, belt, socks and all.
3. She was wedged on her side by two pillow barricades.
4. There was someone in the bed next to her.Carefully(the alcohol hadn’t entirely left her system) Gideon levered herself onto her arm, steeled herself, and turned around to observe a sight most gruesome.
The clock on her bedside table read 4:05am. Someone had left her window blinds open. Harrowhark Nonagesimus, her nemesis, roommate, and childhood friend was —holy shit— sleeping next to her.

Summary
Once upon a time, many, many years ago, Harrowhark's great-great-grandmother, who had herself lived an unnaturally long life, told her that their family was descended from that one wicked snake that haunted the Garden of Eden, that the family Nonigesimus were more serpent than man. At the time, Harrow had thought she was joking, just a senile old woman weaving mindless tales.
She knows better now.
