Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I used to be one of the mods back on Squidoo (site similar to this, where you could post your fics online; they went out of business in 2013, so been gone over a decade now), but I was a mod there from 2007 to 2013, and they only had 2 million users, and there were close to 5k mods and it just was not enough, we were never able to keep on top of bots and spam... and that was over a decade ago, when bots weren't that bad yet, omg, with how bad bots are now today, I couldn't even imaging how hard it must be to help manage a big site any more.
