    1. It's like they take offense at the notion of 'Don't like, don't read.'

      1. No, no, no, you don't understand! There can only be room for them and no one else!!

        I'm kidding of course

      2. actually people don't read shit they don't like - this is more about the shit specific people write not showing up to begin with and it being filtered out and not clogging up searches. There's a lot of people with just triggering or disgusting usernames as well that I don't want to see and people who just don't use trigger warnings properly (on purpose) making sure their works still show up despite of the tag filters set in place

only the major archive warnings are mandatory. anything else being tagged is a courtesy.

          1. And, even those re usually not used correctly. You are free to read the ongwr answer I gave another zser in this thread.

Trigger warnings aren’t mandatory with the exception of either the archive warnings or creator chose not to use archive warnings. So it doesn’t matter if someone is choosing not to add trigger warnings - it’s nice but not required and they’re not breaking any rules by not providing them.

          1. Yes and? I never claimed they were 'breaking rules' or that adding them 'is mandatory' - it's still an sshoe thing to do and peope should have the option to mute those kind of people.

I don't see how that argument somehow invalidates this genuiney neccessity of the news feature or the people who have the need for have been complaining about those writers. Of which quite a few have for example been hidding CR fics as fluff one and just accidently reading the very first sentence of one of those can easily bring back severe trauma.

The option to have those people"s names no longer appear in your searches as to no longer be reminded of their writing and have to actively keep watch is a huge help.

If it’s not required then not providing it doesn’t make you an asshole. Lots of people only tag the minimum required. They aren’t assholes because they’re not tagging the way you’d like them to tag.

"asshole" does not mean "person who does what is forbidden/fails to do what is required".

"Asshole" means "person who does what is objectionable".

                To take a trivial example:

Being courteous to everyone you meet is not required, and being discourteous to everyone you meet is (up to some threshold) not forbidden.

However, someone who is discourteous to everyone they meet is being an asshole.

If you genuinely think there is child porn on this website, why are you here?

          1. Do you use twitter? Instagram? Tiktok? Tumblr? Youtube? Facebook?

Welcome to the internet, it's awful

It's a very well known thing there is CP. Now that you know, will you still use the website?

Depends on whether it's actual CP or 'wah, people are writing about 16-year-olds having sex' like it usually is with people insisting there's CP here.

              1. What about "writing 4 years old having sex"?

I dont remember the exact age, but I have seen summaries of stories tagged "extreme underage" (maybe 9?)

There is one I remember about adoption (I like the family fics) where the adoptive father molested the kid who was super young. That was the summary of the story; that was the whole thing.

                >'wah, people are writing about 16-year-olds having sex'

I am sure this defense would work great in court!
