ooh im finally catching up! cassians love language is cooking and he is so good at it. the way you flesh out melshis work with the labor numbers, suspicious quotas and arrest records … this is such good world building that really digs into what we saw in the show. and i love that kind of mission for melshi, a kind of calculated revenge for what was done to him. also … ‘Cassian had never had this look on his face when it happened: like he was watching something that it was clearly his interest to look after.’ auuuuweweowewoo how melodic ;___;
Ahhhhh bear, thank you for these lovely comments!!! I absolutely adore Diego's investment in Cassian being a good cook, and I really enjoyed weaving that in as one of the layers in this fic. I also loved the idea that Melshi - who was so quick and sharp in figuring out how Narkina really worked - would have a similarly deft eye for thinking about carceral systems at a larger scale. I'm very happy that came through!
