Comment on In Between the Pages, The Devil lives

  1. I’m not sure what that comment about Ron is about.

He and Neville have a point about certain dark magic, and he’s 12.

I wouldn’t take what Tom’s saying as 100% while he’s got a point, he’s definitely using the platform Albus (reluctantly) gave him to propagandize the children.

    1. Well, Ron is biased against Slytherins, without giving them a fair chance and the same is true about dark magic...yeah, he is 12 years old, but you can kill or maim with light magic...as it the intent that counts...

Neville did experience some traumatic events, due to dark magic...but let's not forget, that his own family - a known light family did use dangerous means to check him for accidental magic...which could have resulted in his death!

Obviously...that's why you do not allow Tom to be around children and teenagers^^

      1. And slytherins have biases and foster bigotry towards muggle borns. The previous chapter literally had Severus dealing with his own students telling the other half that they deserve to die for being muggle born

This fic isn't the light side is wrong and the Death Eaters were right. I'm not bashing Ron, or the light side or DUMBLEDORE

I need to make this clear. I love Albus and Ron

This is not an anti Weasley fic.

None of my fics are here to bash the light side, but point out the obvious flaws in the canon writing.

Oh yes, the Longbottoms are sick for that. They cared about magical legacy over Neville being safe.

        1. True, but at the same time Gryffindors learn - you do not need to earn your points justified...just ensure that you do something that's a bit extraordinary...for example breaking the rules in regards to a certain corridor...and hope that Dumbledore will reward you with enough points to win the house cup...or ensuring that a First year gets the latest broom and can join the Gryffindor team, even when you have a rule that states: "No own brooms for first years! No first years on the Quidditch teams!"

I do not say that you need to bash them, just that it should be mentioned, that the light isn't blameless either and also raised *biased people*...who didn't question anything, as long as they can benefit from it....

In regards to the Weasleys...what speaks against setting up a vault for each child, so that they will have enoug money for school supplies, when they start at Hogwarts? If you have 7 children in various ages, you can calculate, when they will attend Hogwarts and also keep an eye on the costs of the supplies...at least their own wand is a necessity!

This is just one of the obvious flaws, as Ron can get away with saying the most idiotic things, just because he is in Gryffindor...he can insult Hermione...and nobody tells him to stop it...

Agreed...and it makes you wonder, why nobody of the Ministry regularly checks on them...especially, as Neville is the last heir...therefore any attack on him, should be investigated thoroughly!

          1. Im very defensive of Ron. Ron gets a lot of flack unnecessarily. Hermione gets away with things way more.

The light does have biases. Which is why I'm constructing my world this way

But it isn't the death eaters were right, and the order was wrong.

Ron will come around. Right now he's hurt because he thinks his friend is going dark

Wait until Harry’s outed as a parselmouh 🤭

            1. That's alright...

And I do agree, that often Hermione's flaws and actions are overlooked...Ron had skills and gifts, as well as knowledge about growing up in Magical Britain that could be quite helpful...sadly, Rowling wasn't interested in letting him shine...

Yeah, but it doesn't help, if they're controlling the British Ministry of Magic and try to get rid of Dark Magic, rituals and traditions, without considering the consequences of such actions...

Agreed...but it doesn't help if you close of the political options, while exploting loopholes in the laws for your personal benefits, and then still claim, that you're the better person...

Good to know...maybe Ron can find something that allows him to shine...without losing himself...

Oh, Merlin...that will be such a mess...

              1. Ron will have a big moment. He's going to have that moment fairly soon

Also? Ron's wand isn't broken in this au. So he's gonna shine

                1. Good, I'm looking forward to it...

Yeah, I did hate, how in canon - neither his parents, nor his head of house seems to care about this at all. And let's be honest...if you can pay a 10.000 Galleons fine for your *illegally enchanted flying car* - then you have enough money to pay for a new wand for your youngest son!

                  Comment Actions
                  1. Oh I hated that so much! And the school letting him carry it around despite being dangerous!

All for the plot! It's so badly written

                    1. Agreed - any professor who teaches a course, where you need the wand constantly, should have acted immediately - as this is a safety hazzard...that's why it should be a necessity to check the students' wands during the first weekend - to see if it's a good fit or not...and should that not be the case...ensure that the students will get a better wand for them...

That's true...and for comedy relief...let's Ron vomit slugs, because he needs to use his damaged wand to get even with Malfoy...yikes...
Sorry, but at that part of the story, even Lockhart would have known, that Ron's wand is a bad choice...
