Summary
In the late 19th century, Sentinels and Guides find themselves increasingly marginalized in a world uninterested in throwbacks. Kaoru is used to being unwanted as an orphan, a female kendo instructor, and a Guide. She knows Kenshin cares for her, but the Sentinel has vowed to never bond. Unconsciously he’s grounded his senses on everything but the taste of her skin and the resonance of her soul, while she lives with fluctuating mental shields and an aching emptiness. Yet she loves him. So they precariously balance between friendship and something cataclysmic. Then Kaoru rescues two foreign children and suddenly the fate of future Guides and Sentinels throughout the world hangs in the balance.

Summary
Over the last hundred years, Sentinels and Guides have almost died out. No one knows why. Only a handful of Sentinel-Guide Centers remain. Hermione and Harry came online together, but despite their friendship they aren’t a perfect match. In fact, Hermione’s only met one Sentinel who makes both her heart and spirit animal leap. Since it’s her school nemesis Draco Malfoy, she prefers to ignore it. Draco never presses, but Hermione finds him watching her constantly. Even worse, it brings her comfort instead of fear. She ignores that too. When Hermione discovers something horrible in her family history, the three must band together to get to the bottom of the mystery and try to restore the Gifted to the world.

Summary
Miss Parker hates kids. Yet when her orphaned brother joins the newest trend of coming unexpectedly Online, she learns that The Centre has been repressing and destroying the rare Sentinel/Guide gift for years. Her brother is their latest experiment. The imperative to protect her baby brother does what nothing else ever has, forcing Miss Parker to break from The Centre. Then she realizes that her protective imperative won’t shut off as Miss Parker comes online as a Sentinel. The annoying Japanese woman on the astral plane calling her The Mother of Sentinels isn’t helping things either. Somehow, she’s sure Jarod has something to do with this and when she finds him, she’s going to shoot him (though she might have to tie him down and kiss him first).

Summary
Latent: existing but not yet manifest; hidden; concealed.
Everyone knows about Captain America, the male super soldier with artificially enhanced senses that never zone thanks to science. He now leads the Avengers. No one but Bucky (not even Steve, who’s a huge liar, self-sacrificing, and awful at self-reflection) remembers Stevie, the sickly, stubborn, latent female Sentinel who fought to protect others no matter the cost to herself. Torture destroyed Bucky’s chance to come Online as Guide, but when the Winter Soldier fails to assassinate America’s Alpha Sentinel Prime, both he and Stevie get one last chance to become their true selves.

Summary
Everyone knows that Sentinels who don’t have all 5 senses are inferior and to be pitied. If given a choice, a Guide would always choose to bond with a full Sentinel. Everyone also knows that Guides can only bond to one Sentinel. Too bad Phil Coulson never got that memo (rather, he doesn’t trust a memo unless it’s in triplicate and labeled with the appropriate clearance codes). Now if only he could get Clint and Natasha to believe him.
Maybe after they deal with the rainforest that just appeared at the base of Avengers Tower.
