How the hell was any of that possible? Shiro guessed there was probably some alternate reality weirdness involved here; he even had a vague idea of how and where the timeline in whatever reality Adam came from might have diverged from the timeline in this one, but…
The odds of a wormhole opening up in a reality where Adam had survived and then spitting him out into a reality that had an Adam-shaped hole in it…
It wasn’t an accident. It couldn’t have been an accident.

Summary
It was easy, after a while. Just swipe left once a day and get on with it. Don’t think too much about it. Don’t think about what they’d do to him if he made that appointment. Don’t think too much about what they’d find. Don’t think too much about how much time is left on the clock. Easy.
And then Adam came back and all of that came crashing down around him.
[In which Adam finds out about that daily phone call Shiro has been dodging, and Shiro finds out that his new body is not quite an exact copy of his old one.]

Adam scooted into his cabin, left his glasses on the counter, shucked off his uniform and socks and underwear and let the bits fall where they might for now, raided his drawers for clean socks and underwear, and found one last clean uniform hanging up in the closet. Perfect. Hopefully he’d have time to run the dirty ones through the cleaner after this mission. He grabbed his towel, half-assedly wrapped it around his waist, slapped the panel to open the door to the bathroom he and Takashi shared, and--
And found Takashi standing in his bathroom door, naked but for the towel around his waist, deer-in-headlights look in his eyes.
Shit.

Summary
He had been captured by hostile aliens, experimented on and tortured and forced to fight for their amusement. He had traveled to the farthest reaches of the universe and piloted a ten thousand year old sentient alien spaceship. He had lost his team, his found family, his best friends, his home, his planet, his entire universe, everyone he ever loved, everything he’d ever known. He had suffered and bled and nearly died.
He was a Garrison officer. A teacher. A pilot. Champion. A Paladin of Voltron. A hero, at least according to some people with cameras and microphones and comically oversized keys.
But right now, none of that mattered.
He was just Adam Wolf and he was home, sobbing in his parents’ arms.
[In which Adam goes home to visit his parents, takes Shiro with him, has some moments of existential weirdness, and becomes a meme.]

Summary
Takashi had flown the other Black Lion. He knew what kind of firepower it was packing. He knew what it was capable of, even by itself. And he knew Adam was a pretty good pilot.
Apparently none of this was enough to reassure him that Adam wasn’t going to get himself blown up every time he flew a mission. He could barely fly the shortest, most routine patrols in the safest parts of the known universe without Takashi threatening to send the MFE fighters or a couple of Lions or on one notable occasion, whole-ass Voltron out to back him up if he so much as sneezed.
[In which Shiro is kind of overprotective and Adam is feeling around the edges of a particularly nasty repressed memory. Also there's a radio station.]

Summary
They stand out like bolts of lightning against Adam’s darker skin: three long pale jagged claw marks slashed into the right side of his abdomen, just under his rib cage.
Shiro can’t help it. He traces them with his fingertips, and Adam shivers.
“Haggar?” Shiro asks. Adam nods and opens his mouth--probably to ask how he knows--but then his fingers find the same pattern on Shiro’s side, and he doesn’t need to ask.

Ohhhhh no. They were absolutely getting a party. They just didn’t know it yet.
The Paladins had two weeks to make this happen.
