Febuwhump Day 1: Trapped
He’s trapped. The bad guy he was fighting apparently decided he’d had enough of Peter’s witty lines and now…
Well, now he’s standing in a bank vault, with shaky hands and shuddering breaths and no way out.
He can’t do this again. He can’t - it’s the warehouse all over again, and he can feel the panic rising in his stomach, up past his ribs, through his chest, into his throat. He’s ever-so-conscious nowadays of where the panic rests inside of him because it’s always there, just waiting for the opportunity to show its true colors, and he can feel every move it makes as he yanks on the door handle one last time for good measure.

Febuwhump Day 2: Peer Pressure
Tony forgets, sometimes, that Peter’s just a kid. That the actual superhero sitting in his lab is just sixteen years old. A high school junior. A child.
An impressionable kid who’s currently asking him, Tony fucking Stark, playboy extraordinaire, about sex.
Well, it’s not like he has many other people to go to, Tony supposes. The list of trusted adults in Peter’s life is a rousing two, and maybe he just thought it’d be less awkward with him than with his aunt. Or maybe he just knows that Tony has more...experience in this department.
The kid is still silent. Which is not only concerning, but also sort of disturbing.

Febuwhump Day 3: Taken
He’s Spider-Man. And Spider-Man protects the little guy, puts everyone else above himself. Spider-Man makes any and all sacrifices necessary to keep other people out of danger.
If that means walking himself right into a room of bad guys, likely with guns, as Peter Parker - scrawny, geeky, vulnerable Peter Parker - then so be it.
He flips the top on his watch and presses the button on the inside, holds until the blinking light appears to tell him that his panic button has worked.

Febuwhump Day 4: "Where are you?"
“Where are you?”
The call patches through, because of course it does. It’s Tony’s suit, after all, and apparently two declined calls at 3 in the morning is enough for his mentor to force Karen to pick up the call regardless of what Peter tells her to do. He should’ve known not to bring the mask, but he’d just wanted to talk to someone for a bit and Karen seemed like the best choice at the time.
“That depends,” Peter says, tone flat. His grip on the railing he’s sitting on tightens, and his gaze settles on the outline of the tallest building in his line of sight. “Do you mean physically or mentally?”
He’s being difficult, just because he can. Because he’s just out of it enough that the little voice in his head that constantly snaps at him to be as easy to handle as possible has quieted.
He kicks his feet back and forth like a child on a swing whose feet don’t reach the ground and has to remind himself that he actually is a child. Not even sixteen, not for another two weeks.
Not at all, if he actually goes through with this.

Febuwhump Day 5: major character death
The first couple weeks are actually okay.
Eleven months after the Snap, everyone who’d disappeared woke up, perfectly unharmed, in whatever spot they most considered to be home. Eleven months after the Snap, Peter came to in his own bed, and the high that came from just being alive took a while to wear off.
But when he crashes, he crashes hard.
Sixteen days, seven hours, and about thirty minutes after the Snap is reversed, Peter finds his first trigger.

Febuwhump Day 6: torture
It was bound to happen, really.
Peter’s a superhero. Ned is his best friend. At least one person on what is probably a lengthy list of enemies knows Peter’s citizen identity.
All things considered, it’s not exactly surprising when Ned gets dragged into Peter’s superhero business. Petrifying, yes. Infuriating, absolutely.
Surprising? Not in the slightest.

Febuwhump Day 7: Imprisoned
“It wasn’t my fault,” Peter says.
The look Rhodey gives him is somewhere between amused and withering. He’s wearing loose sweatpants and an MIT sweatshirt that Peter is pretty sure belongs to Tony, and Peter already regrets calling him and interrupting the very little time the Colonel actually has to relax.
The police station is quiet - surprisingly enough, Peter’s the only person in the holding cell tonight and the officer behind the desk stopped talking to him as soon as he told her that someone was coming to pick him up. It’s late and exhaustion hangs in the air, tugs on Peter’s eyelids, makes his limbs heavy. The adrenaline wore off a while back, and now he’s just…tired.

Febuwhump Day 8: bullied
If Peter has absolutely nothing else to be grateful for, at least the students of Midtown High aren’t ones for fighting.
No matter how much hatred a Midtown student has toward another, no matter how heated an argument gets, punches are never thrown. It’s an unspoken rule that Midtown is more sophisticated than that and resorting to violence is the one line that doesn’t get crossed.
Good for him, since fighting back would not be an option. It’s the magic of secret identities - he couldn’t do it before, so he can’t do it now.
Thing is, though, to balance out the almost-complete absence of violence, Midtown High has a deep-seated sticks and stones ideology. If someone hasn’t hit you, they haven’t hurt you, according to the school administration.
Well, they haven’t said those exact words, but the sentiment stands. Verbal abuse is a lot harder to prove, especially when the people you’re trying to prove it to don’t actually care.

Febuwhump Day 9: Coma
It’s not unusual for either Tony to receive a call from Peter in the middle of the school day. It is unusual for no one to respond when he picks up.
“Pete?” Tony’s immediately concerned, sitting stick-straight in his lab chair as he hears nothing but faltering breathing. “Peter.”
A strangled noise comes from the other end of the line. Tony’s out of his seat and running to the room where he keeps all his suits in less than a second. Peter’s voice finally comes through the phone. “T-Tony, I - I’m at the hospital. We - there was an accident. M-May is -”
The chill that runs through Tony’s bones might be the coldest thing he’s ever felt.
Please don’t say dead. Please don’t say dead.

Febuwhump Day 10: head trauma
His head hurts. That’s hard to ignore.
He’s bleeding. His eyesight is not exactly at its peak. He’s more than a little woozy.
Are those signs of a concussion? If he was a little more lucid, he could say for sure, but as it is, he can’t quite remember. There’s ways to test for a concussion, aren’t there? But do they all involve another person?
Fuck. He needs to do...something. Put the mask back on and call for help? Probably, but that sounds so incredibly unappealing. Wait here for someone to find him? Maybe, but then he has to sit here with this damn headache for who knows how long. Get up and try to go find someone himself?
Hm.
Yeah. That sounds good.

Febuwhump Day 11: amnesia
The hangover comes first. Shortly after, the lectures on underage drinking.
Then, days later, the memories.
He’d been pretty unconcerned about his memory loss from that night - the fact that he’d woken up in his own bed with a raw throat, a pounding skull, and absolutely no idea how he’d gotten home wasn’t lost on him, per se, but it ultimately didn’t seem that important. Besides, he’d been a little busy dealing with May and Tony, who’d both been there when he’d come to with matching what the fuck were you thinking expressions.
There was a strange, twisted, queasy feeling in his stomach, but he’d chalked it up to the hangover.

Febuwhump Day 12: amputated
No one’s dead, but it was a close thing.
War Machine - James Rhodes, also a legend in Peter’s book - goes into surgery as soon as the battle really ends. Peter doesn’t hear much about how he was hurt or how bad it is, but he sees the look on Tony’s face as Colonel Rhodes is wheeled away and knows it’s bad.
The fact that he has no idea what he’s meant to do now isn’t the reason that he goes looking for Tony after he walks stiffly out of the hospital wing, but it’s what keeps him from talking himself out of it. Tony probably doesn’t want to deal with anyone right now, what with his best friend being in surgery and all, but Peter knows how shitty it is to be alone after things like this.
He’s been where he’s sure Tony is now - scared and angry and hurting and blaming himself for something that wasn’t really his fault. Peter might not know Tony that well, but he doesn’t want anyone to go through this alone.

Febuwhump Day 13: anger
Tony knows what the date is.
May 5th. Two days before the first anniversary of Ben Parker’s death.
Peter’s in the lab with him, has been for the past hour. Tony had half-expected the kid to cancel on him, and then when he didn’t, he wasn’t sure what to expect from him.
He gets anger. Quiet, contained anger, but anger nonetheless. Every time Tony tries to talk to him, he’s met with gritted teeth and one-word replies. It’s definitely not how he would’ve guessed Peter would get around the anniversary - depressed, perhaps, or anxious (more so than usual) - but angry wasn’t high on the list.
He asks Peter if he’s okay, and Peter snaps, “I’m fucking peachy,” and grips the beaker he’s holding so hard that Tony thinks it might shatter.
He thinks Peter might be shattering.

Febuwhump Day 14: fallen
The thing is, Peter didn’t intend to fall in love with his best friend.
He doesn’t even realize it at first. Perhaps doesn’t realize it for a long time. The line between you’re my best friend and I’m in love with you is a lot blurrier than some might think, so when Peter’s feelings for Ned cross that line, he just…doesn’t notice.
It’s May who points it out. They’re sitting on the couch together, watching reruns of Project Runway, and May looks at him and says, “You’re in love with him, aren’t you?”
Peter’s head jerks toward her - he opens his mouth to ask what she means, who she means, and then he clamps his jaw shut because he knows.
It hits him, right then and there, that he knows exactly what she means.

Febuwhump Day 16: car crash
She sighs, walks over to the side of his bed, sits down on the edge. She brushes a hand through Peter’s hair, eyes sad, and places the plate on Peter’s nightstand. “You know it wasn’t your fault, right? You did the best you could, honey.”
Peter leans into May, resting his forehead on her shoulder. He hates this.
This. This right here, this pain? This is the worst thing he’s felt since becoming a superhero. He’s known guilt before, way more than most people have, but this is different.
There’s two children in the hospital because he wasn’t good enough. Because he wasn’t fast enough. Because he couldn’t be as good of a superhero as those kids needed him to be.

Febuwhump Day 17: heartbreak
True to form, the door swings open when MJ tries it, and she slips into the apartment to find Peter sitting on his living room couch, staring at nothing. He’s not crying, a fact MJ is eternally grateful for, because she’s already out of her element and definitely cannot deal with tears on top of it all.
MJ’s not really sure why Peter texted her, of all people. It’s not like she’s good at comforting - on the contrary, she’s skilled in the art of making herself scarce when someone is upset - and while Peter might not have many other people to call, there has to be at least one other person who could handle this better than she can.
A quick once-over tells her that Peter probably hasn’t left the house today, if the old sweatpants and ratty t-shirt are anything to go by, so whatever happened must’ve happened here. Likely within the hour, since Peter doesn’t seem to have gotten past the shock phase of the breakup.
Breakup. Damn.

Febuwhump Day 18: damage
“So…did you come up to the top of a building in civilian clothes just to watch the sunset, or is there something going on?”
Peter exhales, breath whistling through his teeth. His webshooters dig into the insides of his wrists, and he doesn’t really know what to say. Doesn’t really know what he’s feeling right now, only that it’s a lot and he thinks better when he’s high up. Something about being so far away from the hustle and bustle of New York clears out a lot of the extraneous noise in his head.
(Some of it always remains, because Peter’s brain has never quite grasped the concept of silence.)
He wasn’t planning on talking this out with anyone, not today. He’s not even sure why Tony is here. But Peter does tend to process faster when he gives voice to his thoughts, so maybe talking to Tony will get him home before May starts to worry.
With his eyes trained on the horizon, Peter says, “Some kid in Health class called me damaged because I asked if people were allowed to not want to have sex.”

Febuwhump Day 19: breach
The day the press show up on the grounds of Midtown High is the day the world - or, at the very least, Peter’s world - comes crashing down.
It’s during Peter’s lunch hour that they arrive. He doesn’t notice, at first, too caught up in listening to Ned talk about the newest Star Wars LEGO set. It’s not until someone at the table next to them says, “Are those reporters?” that Peter actually turns to look out the window.
A whole news station worth of reporters stands on the school steps, flooding down onto the walkway and into the grass. There's cameras and microphones and shouting, and Peter can feel his skin itching just looking at them.
Students are getting up and heading outside to see what the commotion is about. Peter doesn't care enough to do the same.
That is, until Ned pokes him in the side and says, "Hey, what if they're here for you?"

Febuwhump Day 20: time travel
He didn't sleep well last night. Or, if he's being honest, at all. He'd spent most of the night wandering the halls of the tower and trying to avoid waking anyone up because every time he closed his eyes he saw Titan.
It's getting worse, he thinks. The noise in his head, as Peter so aptly describes his own issues, is getting louder. Harder to ignore.
But he's dealing for the last five weeks and he'll keep dealing.
No matter what Rhodey and Pepper and Bruce say, he's dealing.
Until the time to send Peter home alarm goes off (May insisted he set it after one too many forgotten curfews), and Peter looks up and mock-whines, "Aw, I don't wanna go."
