Summary
"You're very nice. The others I've met weren't. Did you know the last trainee didn't pick anyone?" Julian said.
"I promise that if you and I Bond you can do bard training. Would that make you happy?" Eskel caught the pleased look in the matrons' faces. Julian must be a favorite, Eskel inferred, though the witchers at the castle would never allow such a show of favoritism. It was obvious that these potential companions were raised much differently. He had been told that a companion was to keep witchers more human, so he supposed beating the emotions out of them like the trainees had been would defeat the purpose.

Summary
Eskel's Chosen companion is a bard who shares his loves with pretty words and gentle touches. "We Chose each other. Your blood is in my veins. I would hate myself before I could hate you."
Yennefer isn't everything that Geralt ever wanted. "We have passion and love, perhaps, but little tenderness or devotion. You long for a quiet and steadfast kind of love."
"I don't need it," Geralt said, trying to make both of them believe.Series

Summary
"I can't see how you expect to fit our wolf into your pairing," Vesemir said. "There is no three-way Bond; what you are promising him is impossible."
"He doesn't expect to share a soul," Eskel said, "but Julian and I can damn well give him love. Geralt's tried living how you all wanted him to. You broke him! He is unhappy and is liable to let something kill him just because he doesn't have anything to hang on to life for. Being witchers doesn't mean that we have to sacrifice every comfort and joy in our lives to save those ungrateful people out there. You want to know how Julian put it? Geralt is a candle, burning bright and fast. You and I and even Lambert are lanterns, with oil reservoirs that can be replenished with the support of our companions. If we don't put the wick of Geralt's life into oil he will burn out."
(Geralt does get his wick put into Julian's oil. *wink*)
