Summary
The obvious solution would be to return to Nevarro and work with Greef again, but that was easier said than done. He thought fondly of their homestead on Lah'mu, tucked into the woods. Where else would they find such a safe and beautiful place for their family? Idly he’d looked around Nevarro but never got far. There was something about that quadrant of the galaxy.
(A family of his own is not something Din Djarin ever thought he'd have.)

Summary
She carefully pulled up the sheet covering her. Yup, she was naked. Not really a surprise, given everything else. She tried in vain to remember how she’d gotten here. The fact that she could not was more than a little disconcerting. Carefully, trying not to shake the bed, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. Her head swam and a bolt of pain went lancing behind her eyes. Another piece of the puzzle, and one that explained the lack of memory: apparently, she’d gotten drunk and spent the night in a stranger’s bed.
(It's been months since the Mandalorian left Nevarro and Cara is ready to move on, but things get complicated when he finally returns.)

Summary
Din spots her in a cantina on Savareen. He doesn’t know why it surprises him, but it does. Why should she be here, of all places? But then again, why shouldn’t she? He doesn’t know what she’s been doing, since they parted.

Summary
Cara held her liquor better than he did, but she was still more drunk than he’d ever seen her. He watched as she chugged the rest of the bottle she was holding and then grabbed another full one and popped the top.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” he asked. His voice seemed a lot more slurred than he expected.
“Look,” she replied, pointing at him animatedly, “the more we drink, the less extra weight we have at takeoff, no?”
(When Cara and Din play a drinking game, Din reveals more than he intends about his past relationships.)

Summary
She’ll miss him more than she can say, and honestly that’s all the more reason she should go. Letting herself get too attached only ever brings pain. She slings the small bag over her shoulder and turns back to look at the last person she can call a friend. He looks unimpressed, but that’s to be expected.
(Three times Cara quits and one time she doesn't.)

Summary
He’s been watching her for the last half-hour, ensconsed in a booth in a back corner, waiting for Cara to arrive. The mystery woman has proceeded to drink enough liquor to send a man twice her size under the table—barely showing it save when it serves her to pretend—and hustle several games of sabacc from unsuspecting victims who overestimate her drunkeness and underestimate her skill. There’s a flash in her eyes every time she wins that lingers in the back of Din’s mind like an itch he can’t scratch. Occasionally her eyes flick over to the Mandalorian, but if she understands that he’s watching her she doesn’t show it.
(Din keeps crossing paths with a mysterious woman, and finds he can't get her out of his head.)

Summary
That’s it, then. He knew, deep down, that this day would come; it does for many Mandalorians, eventually. For people like him, people who put themselves into that much danger, it’s almost inevitable, whether unmasked by an enemy or by someone just trying to help. That knowledge doesn’t make it any easier to bear. He stares at the helmet and it seems to stare back at him, a visible representation of his ruination.
(Din almost dies, but when he wakes up he finds that the price of his life was not one he was willing to pay.)
