“Jiejie?” Jiang Cheng whispered, voice thick with tears. He was shaking. He felt his legs give out as he fell to the ground, knees crushing blue gentians from underneath him.
Jiang Yanli hummed and cradled Jiang Cheng’s face with her hands. They were soft and warm just like he remembered. She wiped away his tear-streaked cheeks, shaking her head.
“I’m not your sister.” Jiang Cheng’s heart broke for the second time that day.
“Who are you?” He whispered, dreading the answer.
She smiled, purple eyes momentarily flashing crimson red, and Jiang Cheng recoiled in shock.
