“Yes!” Wei Wuxian claps his hand together with glee. “You should come visit Lotus Pier! Yunmeng is full of fun and during this festival there are all new different kinds of food to try! Ah– even of the non-spicy variety! If you come to Lotus Pier, I’ll gather lotus seed pods and water chestnuts for you!” his eyes sparkle with anticipation.Lan Wangji hesitates.
“Wei Wuxian,” Jiang Cheng interrupts them. “Can we move?”
Wei Wuxian throws him a guilty look and takes a step backwards. “I… need to go,” and he runs away.
He doesn’t see the way Lan Wangji’s breath hitches as he takes a step forward, his arm stretched in front of him, but ends up not saying anything.

“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian draws closer and is now almost chest to chest with Lan Wangji, whose heartbeat spikes up, pounding like mad. “Be safe during your journey and… write to me. Yes? As soon as you’re in a safe place, write to me.”
Lan Wangji nods. A second later, his breath hitches– when Wei Wuxian lifts his arm and gently takes Lan Wangji’s chin between thumb and forefinger.
Wei Wuxian smiles softly at him. “As long as the sea is bound to wash upon the sand, we’ll see each other again. Nothing else matters,” he tells him and, for a crazy moment, Lan Wangji thinks he’s going to lean in and kiss him.
What Wei Wuxian does, instead, is brush his thumb over Lan Wangji’s lip. Unconsciously, Lan Wangji opens his mouth, allowing him better access, as Wei Wuxian trails his finger across his lip.
