Summary
When Izuku Midoriya found out who his soulmate was, no one was more surprised than him.
Nor more distraught.
Your soulmate was the person who was made for you. The other half of your soul, created to challenge and build and love you.
And because the world is cruel, you could only truly know who they were when they were gone from your life.

Summary
He’d always thought that soulmates were stupid.
His mom always said that it hurt more than anything to find out who your soulmate was. That the confirmation that the person you were built for was gone would rip a hole in you that you couldn’t mend, no matter how much time had passed.
Why would anyone want that?
Why would he ever want to hear the words that were inked across his ribcage?

Summary
His heart swelled as the letters filled out, and he was sure. He was so sure. He held his breath as color bled into the last gap.
He felt like someone had reached into his chest and crushed his heart with their bare hands.
Kacchan wasn’t his soulmate. By some ugly twist of fate, it was someone whose name was unfairly close—just a letter apart. It was the last letter to bleed into his skin, and it was the only letter he wanted to scrape away.
-or-
Izuku's soulmate isn't who he expects. It isn't who he wants. He'd rather be alone than be with anyone else. Luckily, he's patient.
