Summary
Tommy is colourblind. So is everyone else until they meet their soulmate. But he's 17 now and he still hasn't met anyone who he thinks could be his soulmate. And why would he? He's loud and unfunny, he isn't worth loving.
That's what he was told at least. And when you hear something enough you start believing it. It's not like he has a soulmate to prove otherwise anyhow.
Then he meets Tubbo and Ranboo, and they're determined to show him how loved he is, even if he has a hard time believing it.

Summary
Tommy is filled with joy when he first becomes soulmates with Tubbo. In a way, he knew it was always going to happen, but when it does there's a sort of relief that fills him. Relief that he won't be alone anymore, relief that he can still be loved no matter what he went through as a kid.
But then he starts to doubt himself, he feels so much sadness, it's only natural after what he went through, homes that were homes only by name. So much pain and loss and sorrow.
And it was fine, he could hold it. But now his pain is Tubbo's pain too. And he couldn't have that.
So he starts blocking the bond, and that sets off a chain of events that hurts worse than everything he went through.
Luckily Tubbo is there to hold him as he falls and to love him even as he feels lost.

Summary
There was a time that Tommy was alone. When it was a good week if his parents ignored him because the alternative was raised voices and bruises. But through all that, he had Tubbo and Ranboo. His best friends helped him through it all. They were there for him when he was a child. when he only had himself to rely on, and they were there for him when Phil took him in. They helped him transition.
It had been a good few years with Phil and his two sons who Tommy now called brothers. Happy times, calm times. Times where Tommy was finally allowed to just exist.
So when he wakes up on his seventeenth birthday and realizes he's their soulmate, he should be ecstatic, his two best friends as soulmates. Except, a few weeks ago he had messed up big time and he didn't think he had earned them yet.
So he hides, afraid of what they would say if they found out. Afraid of the angry hateful words they might toss his way. Afraid of disappointment and rejection.
But when they eventually do, Tommy remembers he had no reason, they were his best friends and they love him, he just needs a reminder sometimes.

Summary
Tommy has witnessed the deaths of dozens of people, and he feels responsible for all of them. As a pheonix, he can't die. He just burns and comes back, his body washed of all the scars and bruises that would mark him as a killer. He may not have been the one to fire the arrow or wield the sword, but just by allowing himself to grow close to people he puts them in danger.
With this in mind, he vows to never let anyone near him again.
And then he meets Ranboo
“Come closer,” Tommy invited, seeing the magpie shivering.
When Ranboo shuffled closer, Tommy pulled him in, trying to tuck the magpie tightly against his side without tugging on the restraints around him. Once he was happy with their closeness, Tommy reached for the fire inside of him, ignoring the burn of netherite as it stopped his flame. If Ranboo could be only a little warmer, Tommy would take any pain the universe threw at him.
