Summary
Regulus Arcturus Black takes the Dark Mark on his 17th birthday.
What else could he do? With Sirius gone, it's up to him to uphold the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. It rests on his shoulders, and he does his best to stand up straight, like the heir should. (He was never meant to be heir.)
But he does not plunge himself into the lake. He does not die.

Summary
It's the summer before his sixth year of teaching that Sirius Black escapes. He hears the news when he's hounded by Ministry owls asking for information, accusing him of being an accomplice, and requesting a thorough search of his residence, never mind that Sirius hadn't lived there since even before he became of age.
Professor Regulus Black should have figured that his family's history would catch up to him. He's not looking forward to a year of the Ministry pestering him about his brother, who he hasn't seen in more than a decade, or working with his brother's werewolf ex, and now he hears that Harry Potter is going to be in his Care of Magical Creatures class. Wonderful.

Summary
Harry had been excited all summer. That is, the two weeks that he has to spend at the Dursley's, under strict orders from Dumbledore, before he could head to London to stay with Sirius and Regulus.
With the disaster at the World Quidditch Cup and the upcoming Triwizard Tournament, Regulus finds himself once again under Ministry scrutiny. Meanwhile, Harry makes a few friends in his effort to just try to stay alive through the Tournament.
