This is a deleted scene from the AU of my longer fic, "The Things I Did." If you’re curious, it would have gone right after or in place of Chapter 28 (the Quidditch match!). Even if you haven't read TTID, you may find this to be cute/fun/enjoyable, but there will be references and circumstances you may not fully understand.

Summary
“The Goblet of Fire represents a binding magical contract,” Cornelius Fudge said, as Remus, Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, and Sirius gathered around Dumbledore’s desk. That useless hack! You’d think he was brand new to government, making a pathetic excuse like that one. Sirius drew in a breath to reply, but then Remus spoke up before he could.
“Well, by all means,” Remus snapped, “if the inanimate object thinks he should do it, then we have no choice but to comply!”

Pretty much everything that happened in the Goblet of Fire was avoidable, if any adult had actually been acting responsibly on Harry's behalf. In this story, adults are acting responsibly on Harry's behalf. The three chapters are three characters' perspectives of the same Halloween night.
