Dying on the deck of an enemy ship, while serving his Captain, that was the way to go. That was how First Mate Hands should have died. It was clear he was of no use to Blackbeard, if Blackbeard even existed anymore. And if there was no Blackbeard, then there should also be no First Mate to Blackbeard. They should have just left him there, to drown in blood on the deck of that Dutch ship.
