Summary
Sara knows it’s bad when Rokia isn’t at the shop when she gets there from school. Confirms it when Rokia comes in later, furious and breathless, Kadi on one hip and a battered duffel over her other shoulder. She barely glances at Sara, on her way up the stairs to the office where Sal’s been holed up doing paperwork. At the very least, the latest attempt to get Mata to watch the girls after school apparently isn’t working. But this feels like more than that.
What do you do when you can't fix the real problems? For Sara, it comes down to helping where she can. Even if that means breaking some laws.

And then the Tour gets to the Capitol, and for the next three days any time someone turns on the TV it’s gossip channels showing clips of parties, Rokia with a parade of Capitol celebrities, smiling and flirting, drinking and dancing like she’s having the time of her life.
It turns Sara’s stomach.

Summary
Beetee shoves his glasses up onto his forehead and looks under them at Wiress. "You didn't mention this before," he says, sounding put-upon.
Wiress looks up with a bright grin. "Hi Rokia," she says, "You said you were struggling with the math so I thought a practical demonstration would be helpful."
Beetee shakes his head and heads for the kitchen. "Rokia, would you like anything? We are apparently postponing dinner in favor of experimentation."
Even Victors have to make themselves useful. After the Victory Tour, Beetee and Wiress teach Rokia about control systems, and Sara won't leave well enough alone.

Summary
Phillips gets the polling data and the public opinion just like every year but as they come up to the 72nd Games it's different. He knew it wasn't going to be his choice but he'd hoped, stupidly, that they'd give his girl a little time. No such luck.
He doesn't want her sitting in the control room watching kids die--not ever but especially not this year, not when she's still this close to it. Not when all signs point to the seventy-second being a true damn bloodbath.
Rokia's first games as a Victor and a Mentor. Phillips' first Games juggling what the tributes need with what his girl needs. Brutus provides advice. Lyme has to talk about feelings. Beetee and Wiress provide sanctuary and distractions, and Finnick runs interference when he can.
Rokia's just trying to make it through in one piece.

Rokia sits on the armchair, while Mom sprawls on the couch. Mom tilts her head to one side. “Been seein’ you on TV,” she says. “Looks like you been havin’ fun while I been holed up here.”
“It’s not like that,” Rokia says, sipping at her tea.
Mom smiles. “Hey, I ain’t gonna judge,” she says, “You earned the right, nobody’s gonna say you didn’t.”
“That’s—I don’t have a choice, Mom,” Rokia says, pulling her knees up to sit curled sideways against the arm of the chair.
Mom sighs. “That guy Phillips, he’s not giving you shit for it, is he? Because I’ll talk to him.”
“Mom!” Rokia snaps, then sighs, setting down her tea and scrubbing her hands over her face. “I don’t want to talk about it, okay?”
