TGTBaTA is the main storyline: beta kids/trolls 3 years after a meteor apocalypse, which brought the magical alternative-persons out of hiding and into human society after 100s of years apart. each character is adjusting to new reality, many have been uprooted from all that they know, some cut off from their families, others choosing to make a fresh start. at the heart of our story is the hole in Rose, John, and Dave's hearts: Jade Harley, missing and presumed dead.
This will be a longfic, so buckle in. Though romance is unavoidable with a cast of 16-20 year olds, it is not the focus. The fic is primarily 3rd person past tense, with every beta kid/troll getting a chance to reveal their biased understanding of the story as it unfolds- though a certain best friend uses 2nd person present tense. The fic is set in 2012, but expect some 2009-typical language and references. After all, it took society a little while to restart, so any media in our world that was released after 04/13/09 might have been delayed by the Suburban Catastrophe.
expect to see magic in many forms. expect to see violence. expect to see egregious use of pesterlog formatting for text messages. chapters vary 5k~15k words... for now.

Notes:

at the moment, TGTBaTA's main plot is not going to be split into multiple fics, it is our flagship story. But when we started writing, we decided to proceed pretty chronological- as long as one segment of a chapter isn't occurring in Faerie, you can presume it occurred somewhere in time near the POV preceding it, usually the same day. Of course, this is a Homestuck fic, and sometimes you need to pull a thread that takes you into the past, or takes you away from the action. So what is there to do?
Thus, we decided to make a series to nest TGTBaTA within, so we would have a place for sidefics- stuff focused on a non-Beta character, or something is totally out of Chrono order, or maybe even a place for some [redacted] documents/journal entries. Those sidefics will be released the same day as the main fic chapter it relates to, with a link in the main fic end notes telling you where to go before the next week update.
Sometimes you don't want to break up the flow of the action, but really want to bring an aspect of the story to life that the main characters have no way of understanding or knowing about. There is a lot these guys think they know about themselves and their new world, but there is always room to learn more. The most dramatic of ironies is a treat for the readers, giving you guys information that our heroes cannot discover themselves.
