Summary
Some aching part of the gentleness makes Zoro want to scream. Just rip the bandage off, he thinks. Just stop touching me, he thinks. I can take care of it myself. He thinks.
“Were you alone a long time?” Sanji’s voice interrupts the voices inside his head. “Before this?”
Zoro cracks open his eyes but says nothing.

Or, an OPLA finale coda. After the final battle, there's a little wound tending and a little bit of something else.

Summary
“Get out.” Zoro tries to snarl, but his voice trembles.
“Get out.” Sanji chortles, above him. Dark humor laces through the words, laughing but laugh-less, and worry drenches into them, doesn’t bother to disguise itself. “Can you believe this guy?” He asks the ceiling.
---
Or, often, pain gets worse at night. Or, can there ever be enough wound tending, really? Or, I read about Sanji's other backstory and couldn't resist a little kiss of angst. Another little coda to the OPLA finale.

Summary
If Sanji notices the trail of his gaze, he lets it slide. Only leans over farther, a finger coming out to prod at Zoro’s chest. For Sanji, touch is never a hesitation, never a deliberation. Only an action, sure. For Zoro, it is always a revelation. His chest stutter stops at the sudden pressure—and then restarts, a beat or two off its usual rhythms. “I suppose if you won’t return my spot to me honorably, we’ll just have to share.”
---
Or, after a battle, Sanji insists Zoro's in his spot on the couch. Or, I saw this tremendous piece of fan art and had to write it a little ficlet. Or, apparently, the Straw Hats eventually get a ship with an Aquarium Bar, and that's all you need to know to read this after OPLA. Or, what's better than two tired boys snuggling?

Summary
“A better offer,” Sanji repeats, “for my mouth.” The edges of his smirk brighten back to life. “Food?” He hums, and he’s definitely teasing again now, a setup for a gambit that Zoro walked right into. “Or were you imagining something else?”
The words all but purr from his lips, and now Zoro definitely is imagining something else, although not clearly. There’s flashes of breath, of pale expanses of skin, of Sanji’s hair beneath his fingers. There’s an unbearable warmth in his chest, simmering and molten, spreading. There's definitely a deep red blush scratching across his cheeks. Blood blooms along his skin, paints it. But not in the usual way.
---
Or, Zoro just can't seem to stay away from the kitchen. Or, between Zoro and Sanji there is always something magnetic. Or, finally—a kiss.

Drunk But Not on Drink by 9_of_Clubs

Summary
“Hrmmmm.” Sanji draws the sound out long, lets it meander and spiral, enjoys the creation of it, the vibration of it, before he wanders forward again, leans into Zoro’s space, a lithe, languid figure, an apparition of light. His breath dances around Zoro’s neck, and calmly, Zoro only takes another drink. He works to keep the beats of his exhales measured even as the input into the reflex arcs of his skin threatens to have them stumbling around. He honestly deserves some kind of medal for that.
He’s not drunk on drink. But he might be drunk on Sanji.
---
Or, the space between Sanji and Zoro never stays there for very long. Or, Zoro says he won't take care of Sanji (but he will). Or, my friend shared a prompt about how Sanji would be when he was drunk, and I couldn't resist.

A Bouquet of Garlic by 9_of_Clubs

Summary
“You want me to put peonies,” Sanji waves the bouquet in the air, but gently, the full force of his smile threatens now, and his words are steeped with a warm affection that curves and curls around the syllables falling from his lips, that Zoro craves more than sake these days. Its cadence brushes his skin, flushes his cheeks. “In my chili?” His teeth are out now, and he tilts his head, voice brushing just a hair lower, humming pleased. “That is more experimental than I’ve known your tongue to be, Marimo.”
---
Or, my friend prompted me to turn this tweet about someone mistaking a bouquet of peonies for a bouquet of garlic into ZoSan. Or, obviously, I think Zoro would know what garlic is... Maybe. Or, Sanji can't tell if Zoro is messing with him or not, but either way, he'd like to kiss him.

Summary
“You could come join me, you know.” Sanji’s eyes are still closed, but his lips are quirking in Zoro’s direction as though he can see him clearly. And he obviously can’t, can’t see Zoro’s gaze on him with his stupid lids closed, doesn’t know that he’s been staring for long minutes, unable to tear his gaze away from the hills and valleys hidden in the contours of Sanji’s body, entranced by the way blonde hair wisps in the barely there gusts of wind. So it’s annoying that the smugness seeps long and low into his tone anyway. So fucking sure all the time.
---
Or, the crew spends an afternoon on a sunlit island and Sanji promptly loses his shirt. Or, the UST between these two, phew. Or, my friend prompted me to write Sanji tucking a flower into Zoro's hair.

Summary
At once, the cold is back. And Sanji had failed to be ready for it. Failed to prepare for this nightmare that he knows so intimately. So he has to keep watch. He has to understand why its come and what it brings. Even if it has anchored his feet to the ground. Even if he’s useless in the face of it.
The air is frozen against his cheeks, and there’s metal, and there isn’t, it’s gone, but it’s all around him. And the cold is there, crept in, crept everywhere. He looks away.
“Come inside.” No softness twines through the syllables Zoro makes. But his fingers, against all odds, are warm.
---
Or, the cold tortures Sanji, haunts him with memories. Or, Zoro is the kind of person who wears t-shirts when it snows. Or, what better way to chase away the chill than with a little body heat?

Summary
But right now, Zoro considers, as he catches a glimmer of light from the kitchen, the door to the space slightly ajar, it’s not about the bad stretches of his own brain. Not exactly. And like a moth to flame, the beckon of the gleam draws him closer. Invites him to cross the remaining steps across the deck and into the dimly lit room, where one lantern flickers on the table, casting a dreamlike glow across the whole expanse. Where one shirtless waiter sits, holding his body carefully on the couch, and making sounds that aren’t fully words nor entirely exhalations of air.
Instead, a stream of pained gasps falls from the other’s lips in the cadence of swearing without any fully coherent constructions in the mix. It makes Zoro squint, squeezes something in his chest, though he wouldn’t fully admit it.
---
Or, after OPLA season 2's finale, Sanji is more hurt than he lets on. Or Sanji is a stubborn idiot, but Zoro is even worse. Or, even though Zoro didn't catch Sanji when he fell, he's here to catch him now.
