Doc lives an orderly life, which is thrown upside down one day when he finds a picture of a young racer in the newspaper. The boy looks like Doc in his twenties. To get to the bottom of this, he drives to Los Angeles with Sheriff and becomes Lightning's new crew chief after decades of hiding. Two worlds collide. The orderly simple man and the chaotic boy with a few mental problems. Will the DNA test say it's Doc's son?Or: Lightning and Doc develop a father-son relationship, which Lightning desperately needs after his difficult past and Doc needs it as well.

Paul tries to make it as nice for Monty as possible but Monty doesn't like doctors and racers for certain reasons - how convenient that Paul is both. Monty tries to get away from there but later realizes how different Paul is from the others and that it might be a home where he can finally be himself. How can Paul convince him and show him fatherly affection? How will Monty learn to love racing? And who is the man who takes Monty away from Paul just as he's starting to like it there?

Doc doesn't know that everyone knows his secret and he’s the same grumpy man who never wants to have anything to do with racers or racing again. Lightning's heart breaks in pieces because his mentor not only doesn't recognize him but can't stand him like on the first day. Can Lightning make Doc remember again or will he have to start from scratch?

"Who's calling?" Doc asked, pinching the bridge of his nose in hope he would wake up soon, and it would have been morning, anything else just a bad dream. But this was too real to be a dream. He could feel his heart pounding hard against his chest.
"I need your help." The boy sounded a little desperate but didn’t tell who he was. His voice felt like it was haunting Doc, biting somewhere in the back of his mind, but he couldn't completely grasp why it felt so familiar.
He had been an expert at drowning memories, suppressing those things he’d once called joyous moments.
When someone familiar calls in the middle of the night, Doc's life is turned upside down. The kid needs help to get bailed out of jail, and Doc has no choice but to dig up memories he had buried deep long ago.
