Peter Hale needs Lydia Martin's assistance to bring him back to life. Lydia wasn't his first choice.
EDIT: Made this part of an interlocking series of WIPs I'm working on. I'll try to make sure every fic can stand on its own but I like this universe and I want to explore Peter Hale's psyche some more.

“Food, sleep, exercise, sunlight,” Peter counts the words out on his fingers. “As pedestrian as that advice is, it does work.”
“Is that what you did after you came back from the dead?”
Peter smirks and straightens his back in a way that makes the muscles of his chest and arms stand out.
“We’re going for a run,” Peter ignores Stiles’ sarcasm-laden question, “thirty minutes. For those thirty minutes, you don’t have to put on your normal Stiles mask and you can ask me any question you can come up with.”

Peter Hale notices that Stiles isn’t quite dealing with the aftermath of his possession, so he decides to help.
Only to ensure his own survival, of course.

A place—. Another place. A different place… that isn’t Eichen House?”
Chris’ side gives a pulse of pain in protest, barely the shadow of an echo of that piece of rebar going through him. He breathes to chase away the sound of Peter Hale’s voice.
“Rest,” the memory says. “You’ve had a hard time for a very long time.”
