Summary
Kirk and Spock are the best of friends, to the point that people are starting to think it's a little weird.
Surely Spock can be friends in the Vulcan way, and Jim can be friends in the human way, and both can get what they need from it. Jim can have his lovers and Spock can have his secrets, so long as they both know where they stand with each other.
But when an accidental telepathic link makes Spock an unwilling spectator of Jim's sex life, it gets hard to keep up the boundaries that make their friendship work.

Summary
This is the prequel to "We can only be who we are." The two stories can be read in any order, though this was the second story written and the first to happen.
In this story, we hear all of Spock's painful backstory that I didn't want to include in the other fic. Then a nice little epilogue coming after the events of the other story.
