Summary
The last thing Cooper wants to be doing is going off-task, chasing a Vault mayday of all things, but it's the first time she'd spoken in days, the first time her eyes have held any of the fire she'd overflowed with before their journey to New Vegas, before her Daddies secrets had been revealed and she'd shot her momma in the head. But his Vaultie needs a distraction, so if she wants to go play the hero, he'll follow along. Keep her safe. Because for some reason, he's finding it harder and harder to say no to her.
Lucy knows the Ghoul is everything she shouldn't want. She's too old for rebellion and too young for a crisis, but her protector, her companion...he's just getting harder and harder to ignore, nevermind resist.

When Lucy agrees to go and look for some woman's missing husband, Cooper knows he's in for a day - what he doesn't expect though, is to be shot, stabbed, and end up in a ghoul-infested horror show of a hospital. When Lucy gets it in her do-gooder, golden little heart that they're helping someone though...well he knows there's no point fightin'. He'll just go along and try and keep the whole lot of them alive.
And if he's feelin' adventurous, try and process his emotions at the same time.
Neither of them expect the rollercoaster of emotions and actions that follow, though. The resolution they'll find, together.

Summary
You need to read the other fics in 'A Kiss to Build a Dream On' for this to make sense - at least, I'd say, Flash, Bam, Alakazam, but I'd recommend reading the others too.
A slowly defrosting Norm in hand, Lucy and Cooper end up having to take refuge in a settlement; one he'd done his best to avoid in the before-times, and isn't particularly happy about being in, now.
They just need a few nights, though - the chance to rest, check in with a medic, maybe send a message ahead to the farm.
Simple... right?
For Cooper and his Goose, though, is anything ever simple?
