“I wish you wouldn’t,” said Archie, blue eyes shadowed in the gaslight. They were the only two left in the building.
“Wouldn’t what?” snapped out Daniel.
“With your hair. It looks painful.” Archie’s hands closed around Daniel’s with unbearable gentleness. Daniel released his hair as if it were on fire. Archie did not relinquish his hold. Daniel considered snatching his hands away, but could not bear the thought of coming across as a petulant child. He kept his hands limp in that damnably gentle grasp. His body seethed.
