Summary
A piece of parchment is tossed in front of him. It's smooth and new, as if it were a freshly ironed garment. Techno is unsure if he should know what to expect. He reads the contents slowly, silently.
Unlike every other time he's been asked to read a letter addressed to him, they don't ask him to fight. They don't ask him to battle.
“You want me to..” Techno trails off, voice cut short by the rough edges of his throat. “You want me to be your kingdom’s general? Me, the guy who led a rebellion against you two years ago and the reason why you even need a new general in the first place?”
OR
Another kingdom asks Techno to be their general. It doesn't end well for him, but hey, at least he gets a new friend!

Summary
Something jolts him awake. Surprisingly, that something is riddled with promising warmth. He lets out a small whine. He doesn't find the thought of opening his eyes particularly favourable right now.
“Can you hear me?” someone asks beyond the static ringing in his ears. “If you can hear me, can you open your eyes?”
Techno manages to find a bit of strength in him to squint his eyes open. Everything is blurry, he can feel icicles hanging from his eyelashes like butterfly cocoons. Yet, a silhouette forms in his vision. He focuses on a brown-haired man kneeling in front of him. His gaze is distraught and concerned, and Techno couldn't be bothered to wonder why.

A spike similar to a searing knife briefly soaked in magma digs into his skin, scratching on his veins that refuse to pop so easily.
Help!" he tries again. "Over here! Help!"
This time, he hears footsteps, not shuffling of leaves, not sibilating snakes. It was neither hurried nor unconcerned. He prays it's not another, a far different and worse creature. Gods, he does not want to die a lost soul.

“Are you dying in there?” a raspy voice—one evidently belonging to someone who just woke up—asks.
It's more of a fact than a question to Techno. Perhaps he really is dying, but that wouldn't be very on brand of him.
Somewhere in the recesses of his mind, Techno registers his name being called by his brother, Wilbur.

Summary
Unfortunately, Wilbur's mean glares and cold responses are only a couple of things that float in his vast, never-ending ocean of problems.
The sudden upsurge of the voices lingering in his head doesn't usually occur in school. When it does so happen that his luck betrays him without remorse, it would be in the bathroom or behind the school parking lot dumpsters where no one will hear or care when he starts to scream.
But today, the voices have been clouding his head the moment he stepped into the classroom.

But Techno was curious. So he did, he did ask again.
It ended with him being locked in a cellar with a racing heart and a bruise on his cheek. That story is one he'll choose to forget anyday.
That's why he talks to Phil, even if the crow, of course, never utters anything back. He walks the bird through how his day went, and how it's going to go for the following weeks. Monotonous. Painfully monotonous.

Wilbur had tucked a lily behind his ear then—one that was the colour of the creeping dawn, and the scent of early morning dew on the humid bark of the tree they'd built a tiny fort on.
And never, not even once did he think that that would become a tradition between him and his brother.

Summary
Techno would say his city is perfectly free of sinkholes, not that he'd really figure whether or not this is part of the government's solution to overpopulation. He doesn't know why he's falling, he doesn't know where he's falling into.
Techno plummets deeper into the rabbit hole (or sinkhole, who cares). He shuts his eyes, hoping he'll be back home when he opens them. He jolts as soon as he hits the ground, head pulsating in both pain and confusion. His breath wavers, and his mind's refusal to register where he is makes his throat start to unwillingly close from anxiety.
Yellow walls take shape through his spotted vision, and maybe it's because everything is spinning relentlessly, but it seems that the walls go on forever, endless.

Tommy faces his brother. He's fast asleep, expression as mellow as the day Tommy met him, except there were fewer scars and lesser guilty grudges.
“Yeah, you better sleep well,” he mumbles. “When you wake up, all your possessions will be gone,” he adds jokingly.
Techno doesn't move a muscle, maybe it's because he had fallen straight into the chasmic cracks of sleep, or maybe it's because he knows Tommy won't be leaving this room until Phil comes back anyway.
The boy would be lowered into his grave before Philza Minecraft witnesses him become attached to his older brother like a needy kid. Again.

Summary
The first time Techno saw Tommy’s ghost, he didn't scream. He didn't call for his neighbours—not that he has any left alive—nor did he take a crucifix and pray. He will never be a religious man. And he will never refuse a chance to see his little brother again.
The boy was pale and his features were sunken. There were still specks of blood on his temples, just as when he died, though Techno made sure he was clean and spotless.
But Tommy significantly lit-up when he realised his older brother can see him. And Tommy ran straight into his arms with that same grin on his face that would leave Techno empty when he'd reminisce.
Techno smiled back at him, the first time in months that his lips formed anything other than a quivering frown. It immediately dropped the moment Tommy fell through him.
