Summary
Doesn’t matter where they are or what they’re doing, Stede loves to feel clean.
Except in the garden.
In the garden, Stede wears overalls with more dirt stains than denim and permanent grass stains at the knees. In the garden, Stede rarely wears gloves, digging into the earth with his bare hands and a smile so bright Ed could swear the flowers have been using it to photosynthesize. In the garden, Stede is messy, and Ed loves it.Series

Summary
Usually, Stede seems to love the dirtiness that comes with their garden (Ed shouldn’t really call it theirs, since his only contribution is to stare at Stede’s flat ass in those fraying overalls, but Stede claims it’s motivating). Where Stede normally gets shivery and upset when faced with dirt, he’ll rummage in the soil with all the joy of an unsupervised three-year-old, albeit with significantly more judgment on how many inches should be between each trellis for the tomatoes. As long as it’s in service of their blossoming yard, Stede is down for any amount of grit and grime.
Except when he isn’t.
