Summary
He’s still never killed anybody; he’d thought it would get worse as he got older, and sometimes he does think about “accidentally” killing some random person in fight club or in line at the post office or while he’s dealing with a particularly unruly suspect. It’s maybe once a day that he seriously considers snapping. But he isn’t an animal; just because he wants to do something doesn’t mean he has to. He also wants to not show up for work, and he wants to eat out every night, and he wants to punch Masuka and Doakes in the face.
Well, he and Doakes do that, sometimes, in the basement of an abandoned warehouse; neither of them talk about it, but he always gives Dexter looks that are both suspicious and respectful for the next few days. He’s sure Doakes has heard from the other cops how often he’s there, but isn’t sure he cares. So what if Doakes knows he’s addicted to violence?

Summary
He shows up at Rita’s at nine-thirty on Saturday morning, bearing a tiara for Astor and a toy truck for Cody and donuts for everyone. “Harry!” Cody cries, jumping up and into his arms. “Harry, Harry, come look at my lego castle!”
“Then you have to look at my drawing,” Astor says. “I drew a unicorn!”
“You’re both so creative,” Harry says. “Here. These are for you.” He hands over their gifts. It’s odd, really; he’d always assumed if either of his kids gave him grandchildren, it would be Deb. But here they are: Dexter’s. He’s suddenly a family man. It gives Harry more hope than he knows what to do with.

Summary
Frank really is a walking cliché, a retiree in Miami. To be fair, he’d only headed here after he’d heard about the murder; it’s Trinity’s MO, has Trinity’s fingerprints all over it. He approaches Miami Metro PD on a whim, doubting they’ll let him participate but hoping his reputation precedes him.
Which, thank God, it does.

Summary
Debra sits up thinking for a long time after Dexter leaves her room. She’s never been all that jealous of Dexter’s relationship with Dad, or at least she tries not to be; she knows intellectually that the only reason they spend so much time together is that Dexter is a grade-A psycho little freak who has to be coached on every single detail of the basics of human interaction.
Dexter’s never brought the whole thing up around Dad, so Deb hasn’t, either; now, though, she’s wondering if she has a choice in the matter. He offered to teach Dexter how to kill humans.
