She fixes her eyes forward, forcefully stilling herself so she wouldn't turn around and gape at the woman behind her. In doing so, her gaze finally lands on the title of the class, splayed out in big red letters on the holo-projector - "Archeology 201: Excavation Methodology".

Their last encounter had ruined her.
There had been a neat little box in her mind where her wife had been kept safely tucked away - like Amy or Bill or Rose or Donna or the dozen other friends she’d lost to time or circumstance - but now it was shattered into a million pieces.
