Tsuna wonders, when he finds out, whether his life would have been much different had Timoteo not sealed away his flames when he was a child. He wonders what such a life would have been like. If he would rather have that life, rather than the one he lives now.

He wonders this over the years. And finally, he has his answer.

It's all anyone ever asks for in life, really. An answer.

(He has always known his answer, though. He has always had it.)

Notes:

Isn’t It Beautiful? is a Katekyou Hitman Reborn! mostly gen-fic series wherein Sawada Tsunayoshi finds himself pulled into the Underworld as a part of someone else’s Inheritance Plots and Plans, and decides he’s… well. Sorta okay with it. He’s okay with a lot of things. Aaaaabsolutely dandy about it.

Doesn’t mean he’s going to make it easy for them, though.

The series is set in an Alternate Universe that is far more entrenched in flames than canon. Namimori and Kokuyo are towns on an island named Kakishima, and the Underworld starts spilling just a little bit Overworld. The main piece will be mostly Gen, save for the occasional brutal violence and any criminal reference that slips in. Any explicit content will be delegated to side-pieces. Will have some pairings, but doesn’t focus on romance. Hopefully.

Contain humors, some mystery, lots and LOTS of worldbuilding since it’s AU, a lot of throwback to actual Real Life criminal societies and cultural histories, and what I hope will be criminal masterminds. Themes include disabilities, LGBTQ themes, tackling the topic of peer abuse, a hot pot of cultures (so far we have the usual Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese/French immigrants, eventual 1st and 2nd gen), regimented conditioning of adults and children, a large amount of adopted individuals, and some insight into isolationist worldviews. Oh and also sci-fi. Flames and sci-fi.

GROUND ZERO: the world's on fire but we're all smiling (though it's all our fault);
rough draft. contains some spoilers, a different sort of storyline, mostly exploratory narrative. non-compliant with the rest of the pieces, but a bit related.

PART 1: the way we fall (apart);
1995 - 2013 in Sicily and parts of Italy. Covers Reborn's adventures and his part in Xanxus' upbringing. Overall, provides a glimpse at the history of an alternate Sicily where Vongola eventually rules more or less every part of it and accidentally-on-purpose reveals the existence of flames to the public.

INTERMISSION: it's magical and tragic (all the ways we break our hearts);
Odds and ends. Fictional 'news articles' and 'interviews' to lend to the world. Updated as things occur.

PART 2: (we think) we're invincible, completely unbreakable;
2000 - 2010 in Japan on an island formerly known as Sadogashima, now Kakishima. Covers various chunks of the childhood years of Takeshi, Kyouya, and Nagi. Nana raises Tsuna on her own. He is Sealed. And he is Unsealed.

PART 3: (and maybe) we are;
Begins in the Summer of 2015. Reborn receives a Mission. Someone heeds the cry in the dark of the cruelty of the world it was born into. The Underworld is running out of time, and the cause is rather unexpected. The solution? A Cleansing. The question is, which side will be Cleansed first?

major points of divergence:
- namimori and kokuyo are towns that are part of a near-isolated island named after oysters, and set off the western coast of japan. due to the arrival of giotto and his boys, flames are public, island-wide knowledge. in fact, they are everyday knowledge. they are a part of life. and so is the fact that some of the citizens need flames to balance themselves, to be normal people. some of them aren't 'normal people', and that's just fine.

- daemon takes a rather different approach for 'making vongola stronger' that seems to include watching the sawada line pop out babies until finally there's the golden goose that lays the golden eggs-- i mean sawada tsunayoshi. everything is really only 20% daemon's fault.

- timoteo tries. he really does. just... not enough. or in the right area.
