Vergil heard Dante’s shout moments before the scent of his son’s blood hit him. Nero didn’t curse or scream, there was only a pained gurgle and the sound of his body hitting the ground.

“It’s ok kid, I’ve got you. And your father’s here too, we’ll take you home and you’ll be fine.” Dante sounded so sure, so steady and calm, as if this were any other day, and not the day Vergil witnessed his own son's death.
