Summary
There was a beat of precious silence, broken right after Wukong had slammed his newest drink. He looked serious all of a sudden, something on his mind.
"Macaque."
DBK followed his gaze, wondering what exactly that idiot of a monkey was about to get up to.
After having made the foolish decision to try and beat DBK in an improvised drinking competition, Macaque was sprawled against a nearby rock, letting out surprisingly loud snores for the puny thing that he was, drool making its slow descent down his chin.
“What about him?” he asked Wukong with some warranted wariness.
“I wanna kiss him.”Mixing alcohol with talks of love can lead to surprising results, but ones DBK is not ready to deal with just yet.

“Why do you still insist on playing the hero? You already lost!” Macaque's shoulders slumped. “Wukong, let's just leave-”
“No!” Wukong argued, turning back to face the bright skies. “This is my home, my mountain, my battle. I'm not going to just run from it all!”Sun Wukong gambles his life. He loses everything else.

“Go home, Macaque.”
So he said, as if Macaque had a home anymore. Without another word, Wukong jumped on his cloud and flew away.
“Fine! Go back to your Master!” Macaque shouted, spitting out that title with the utmost mockery. “I'm sure he's waiting for you, 'wouldn't want you to leave him alone for too long, he could start missing you!”
But Wukong had already gone out of reach before he could end his sentence.The pilgrims have finally reached Camel Ridge, to the ire of its Three Kings. Stuck somewhere between the two warring factions, Macaque is doing all that he can to keep his spirit – and himself – alive.

Macaque's heart skipped a beat.
“You reached first,” is what he said as a retort, but was it even a retort? That meaningful gesture, this acknowledgement even as Macaque had been ready to greet the end of the world on the sidelines, it had been exactly what he had been yearning for, now and centuries ago.
“And this is me, reaching out again,” Wukong said, casually, as if this declaration did not have the power to tip Macaque's world off its axis.In the aftermath, Sun Wukong is determined to turn the page and bring their lives to a new chapter, to Macaque's astonishment.

“I did a thing again! Why do I always do a thing?!”
This time, MK’s screaming had been loud and prolonged enough to wake Mei and Red Son, who rushed to come to his side, even half-asleep as they were.
“Noodle Boy? What's going on, what was that just now?”
Mei gasped. “The enclosure! Where's Burpy?!”
“Um, well, y'see...” MK let out a defeated sigh and pointed to the forest, where the flame sprite had fled. “That was it, just now.”MK, Mei and Red Son are having a sleepover at Red Son's training temple. But their fun is thrown into chaos when MK's corrupted staff transforms the flame sprite, and the creature takes its chance at freedom.

“What if I was a monkey?”
A tentative smile showed up on Monkey King's face. “...You want to use your monkey form?”
“Yeah. Think I wanna try and train with it, explore stuff... take it for a spin, you know?”As usual, MK trains and hangs out with Monkey King around Flower Fruit Mountain and its landmarks. What is less usual is doing so in his monkey form, and getting to learn a little bit more about his mentor and his past along the way.
