Summary
A feeling strikes him then, suddenly. A burst of something in his chest. Like the aftershock from a handgonne. The shock of needing someone, and of having someone. Something to look forward to every time he opens his eyes. Some reason to stay.
Henry opens his eyes. It’s cold outside, or there’s a fire in the mantle inside, or there’s revelry downstairs at the Devil’s Den, or a warm body beside him until it’s not there anymore. A story inspired by the Somnambulant negative perk.

Summary
“Tell me what you need,” Hans says again.
Henry is quiet for a few moments. Outside, someone walks through the courtyard carrying a bucket of water that splashes out onto the dirt floor. Once the person passes, Henry says in a whisper, “Could you press it? With your hand. My back, I mean. My lower back.”
Hans finds himself needed, and makes himself useful, one night at Trosky. A story inspired by the Bad Back negative perk.

“Night terrors, my Ma called it. But it got worse after Skalitz. Every night now, it seems.”
“Every night?” Hans repeats. “We’ve spent a few nights in the same room. I haven’t woken up like this before.”
“This was a bad one.” His jaw stiffens again. No more words come out.
Henry spends a night at Hans’s poacher camp, and even in the pale moonlight, the dark circles under his eyes are still prominent. And so are the nightmares. And so are the shaky hands the morning after. A story inspired by the Nightmares negative perk.
