When a man in a leather jacket stepped out of the police box, Ian pulled Barbara to a halt a few meters away. “It isn’t him,” he hissed. “It’s somebody else.”
Barbara’s face mirrored his own disappointment. “It can’t be a regular police box, though,” she whispered back. “It isn’t usually there. We’d have noticed. Besides, the police don’t use them anymore. So why would someone be coming out of one?”

Summary
The Doctor isn’t sure of much, right now, other than that everything hurts. He most definitely isn’t sure how he ended up telling these erstwhile companions — technically among his oldest friends, now his own people are gone — about the Time Lords, and the Daleks, and the War. How he was needed to fight and he did fight, only he’s a Doctor; he’s supposed to help people, not wage war. But war was already happening, and his options were to lose his people or lose himself, except somehow he ended up doing both…
“Doctor,” says Chesterton, leaning forward. “Do you remember the first time we met the Daleks?”
