Aziraphale screamed into the muck clogging his mouth and thrashed. There was no escape for him now; the demon was here, in his rooms, his most private of spaces.
“Shh, shh. . . .” Fingers ran through his hair, stroked down the side of his face. “It doesn’t have to be like that. You know I’ll take care of you. Don’t I always take care of you? Shh. . . .”
