Description:

What comes next for a world that has already been saved? When the war has ended and the soldiers return to their fields, what is left for those who find their ploughshares still too sharp to be wasted upon the soil? The new world is born from the ashes of the old, but the fire can never truly be considered vanquished, not while there is yet kindling to be devoured; how, then, can one purposed for heroism alone consent to hang up her sword, retreating from the fray even while there remain monsters upon the world?

No. No! Let fields be tilled by ploughs, and nails remain the concern of hammers, for blades were forged for battle and voices to be raised in song! New wars must be waged against the darkness, its servants to be harrowed without mercy; new hearths must be found, their hallowed light to defend; new horizons must be discovered, beyond which shooting stars can be followed eternal by those whose blood calls them to run! The hunt ends with the death of the Hunters, not the prey, and those whose names are remembered can never truly die; the work is never done, the performance never finished, for what true daughter of the stage can resist the siren song of one last encore?

Notes:

hey there! if you're a new reader, welcome; if you're a returning reader, welcome back! your enjoyment of my work truly means the world to me, and i cherish each and every hit, kudos, and comment with which i am blessed. from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

a note for new readers: the harrowing starts a little slow, i know, but trust me, you want to stick around for the whole thing. i won't spoil anything here, but if you keep reading until, oh, chapter seven or so, i think you'll find it worth your while ;3

this is the first fic series that i have posted anywhere, and contains the largest single collection of words i have strung together in my entire life; it was truly a joy to write, and continues to be so. hopefully i'll even finish it one day. hopefully.

once again, thank you so much for taking the time to enable my bullshit.

enjoy!
