There’s a plea behind Patrick’s eyes when Richie looks at him— really looks at him— and he can’t quite make out what Patrick’s trying to ask of him. But when he does, Richie’s stomach flips.
“Oh! Do you want me to…?”
Patrick shakes his head in a way that could have been a yes or a no, and Richie’s not sure which one he’d rather it be. Deep down, he knows he wants it to be yes. Something about this moment, looking at Patrick in this hotel bathroom in the middle of nowhere Maine makes Richie’s heart leap, makes him want to do whatever he can to make sure that Patrick is okay.
