Ian rubs a hand over his face, his skin still smelling like summer and chlorine from the pool. His body is heavy, warm, and tired from swimming and from the heat. He stretches, eyes closing for a moment as he imagines Anthony with the car window down, air ruffling his curls because his hair was always curly after swimming. Ian smiles to himself, eyes fluttering open, and that’s when he notices it, in the peripherals of his vision, drawing his attention to the sharp jut of his hipbone on the right-hand side of his body.
