Summary
“I’m going to check your scent real quick, okay?” The man was already peeling back one of the patches.
Mathias scrunched his nose as his own sour scent leaked out. He wore scent blockers all the time per regulation, only taking them off to put on a fresh set. His own scent was foreign and revolting to him. He couldn't imagine how it smelled to complete strangers.
The man’s mouth flattened into a thin line, and he looked back up at the woman as he smoothed the blocker back into place. “Omega.”
“Jesus,” the woman breathed.
The man stroked Mathias’s neck a few more times. There was something sad in his expression.
“I’m not an omega,” Mathias said hoarsely, finally able to pull away. “They don’t exist. That’s just an excuse for you to oppress half your population.”

Summary
“Cassius is more than qualified to treat you. He’s successfully rehabilitated many omegas.”
Dorian glanced at Cassius again, wary.
Plenty of people had said they could help him. Specialists. Alphas with perfect credentials and soft voices. None of them had managed to fix whatever was wrong with him. Eventually they all looked at him the same way—like he was too much work.
“I look forward to working with you, Dorian,” Cassius said.
His voice was warm. Not clinical. Just steady.
“But for this to work,” Cassius continued, “I need you to participate. I can’t drag you through it. It only works if you decide to try. Do you think you can do that?”
