Summary
He saw it happen before the collision even happened. He saw Cliff coming and opened his mouth to warn Shane but he wasn’t fast enough. Shane hit the ice and for a second Ilya was sure he would get back up. He didn’t. He barely managed to stop his own momentum before crashing into Shane laying on the ice. Silence. Complete silence was all he could hear.

Summary
“I’m gay”
The silence that followed was deafening. He ignored it and went on to put his gear on. After that it was like a switch had been flipped. No one spoke to him during practice or in the changing room, the team chat was suspiciously quiet. No one did anything physical but they didn’t need to. Their silence spoke louder than anything they could have possibly said and Shane wasn’t stupid despite what many of them thought.
Or: After Rose helps him see that he's actually not broken, Shane finds it harder to pretend to be something he's not so the truth slips out without his permission. The fall out is unpredictable and the life he's spent years building is falling apart. Still he can't find it in himself to regret it because while it might have caused him a lot of pain in the moment that little slip up might have been the best mistake he'd ever made.

Summary
Shane was doing well, no really was. He had everything he could have ever wanted, a career in hockey, more money he could ever spend and an amazing boyfriend. His life was supposed to be perfect. Except, lately Shane felt like he was drowning. He felt invisible like he was, he was gasping for air and getting none.
Ever since he and Rose broke up his team had been on his back trying to get him a new girlfriend. They were convinced that Rose was the problem that she had dumped him. They wanted her to pay and they wanted him to try and make her jealous. Not a single day passed without a comment about it and Shane felt his stomach twist every time it was mentioned. He wanted to scream. He wanted to yell at them that no it wasn’t Rose that was fucked in the head. She wasn’t the problem. Shane however was.

Having seen Young Royals is not necessary but it would be helpful, having seen Heated Rivalry is on the other hand very much needed to understand haha <3
