A reaction fic of my MDZS au! It’s set during the Cloud Recesses Arc, and if you know what Stygian Onslaught is, the thing that projects it looks like that but just the core! The Au is explained below, pls read I swear it isn’t angst I can’t write that✌️
At the beginning of Sunshot Campaign, Wei Wuxian was caught and tortured to death. When Jiang Cheng learns of this, he clenched his fists in fury and stormed Qishan. Who did he meet on the way? Lan Wangji.
Why? Xichen had also been caught while he was in the run. While not dead, he was severely traumatized and would flinch at every little sound and touch. Seems like Lan Wangji had been equally drowned in fury at this
The two agree on revenge, finding their fury of their brothers being victims of the Wens a commonplace.
They eventually cause so much terror within Qishan that the Wens spend more time protecting themselves than they do fighting the war. After sometime, they kill everyone within Nightless City minus the innocent. They were never the same. But they tried to fill the void of their brothers by becoming sworn brothers themselves and trying to act like their older siblings.

People notice Jiang Cheng just randomly disappears without warning and comes back like nothing happened.
Jiang Cheng is just tired and angry that Ling Wen won't inform him on missions and meetings in advance, not on the day it is. (It's why he just randomly dips)

Just in time, Jiang Cheng slammed the door open, standing there with a fully manifested Zidian trailing to the floor, the purple energy threateningly crackling. "What the heck are you guys doing in Wei Wuxian's office!?"
His eyes spotted the object Lan Jingyi is reaching for. "Don't touch that!"
But it had been too late, the object exploded in a bright light, blinding everyone then just darkness.
OR, The juniors (Jin Ling) wanted to look for some 'books' from Wei Wuxian's office in Yunmeng because of course he would have them, to aide them. Jiang Cheng finds them, calls them idiots, then promptly gets transferred to the past
