Summary
Fitz was patient with me. Gruff, but always agonizingly patient. He bundled me into a blanket and sat me before his hearth, shut the window, and shoved the bloody cloak into a corner where I couldn't see it any longer. Then he sat down behind me and pulled me roughly into his arms. I went, angry at myself for going so easily. For always caving so immediately to him, this man who gave so much to me, while always holding so much back.
It didn't matter. His arms were the only thing that chased the chill away, so slowly, I let him warm me. We sat without speaking, my back pressed to his chest, his chin hooked over my shoulder, my smooth cheek pressed against his ever-so-faintly whiskered one. It was a peace entirely unendurable. Silently, we both endured it.

"I know not who I am any longer," I told him, thankful I had donned no cosmetics as I cried into his fern-colored jerkin. At least the only marks I would leave on it would be tearstains. "Each time I think I've figured it out, it slips away from me again. I am lost, Fitz. I don't know who I am, without prophecies to guide me and fate to make me bold."
"You are Beloved," Fitz replied simply, his lips in my hair. "You are mine. For now, let that be enough. You are Beloved, and you belong to me."
