Now she had a chance to start fresh in college; she’d focus on her studies, no need to pick up a random hot boy to fixate on him for the rest of semester just to not feel anything for him either later on.
Nothing and no one would break her out of her clear, solid path for her studies to excel.
Lizzie sat down at her first class on her first day with that one idea in her head.
And then Hope Mikaelson showed up.

That was what the girl had said her name was after the professor asked for it, looking too delighted saying it, as if there was some achievement on it already, a hidden, bright pride that she couldn’t hide behind her dimpled smile.
Little did Hope know how important that name would become for her – how that girl carrying the sun in her hair and storms in her eyes so confidently and gracefully would become such an essential part in her life.

And definitely not true because six months in-between, with Lizzie’s many attempts to move on from Hope, and the only two conclusions that she had arrived with from the trip were:
She was a lesbian.
And she was irrevocably, hopelessly in love with Hope Mikaelson, and there was nothing that she could do to change it.
Hope’s big smile breaking through as Lizzie handed her a French book about ancient art simply confirmed it for her – though the way Hope’s fingers lingered on her hand as they stared at each other caught Lizzie off guard, for the touch felt much gentler than she remembered it to be, and something in Hope’s eyes sparkled in a way that she did not remember.
It felt different, but it was still the same thing they’d been doing for years.

Lizzie and Hope are set to start their senior year, not before sharing a brief summer together. It feels like nothing's changed between them, but the more time passes, the less they can hide what they truly feel.
