“Hm.” It’s a huff and a music note. Displeasure vocalized. You had quite liked Kamimura Kazutoshi. He was one of the few who seemed to look for you. Nishino sees you, sure, but hers is an effortless kind. She sees what you give her and doesn’t ask for more. Forgives the rest.
Kamimura looked for you. His red eyes tracing your movements with a quirked brow. On the occasions where Hasegawa was busy with something, or sleeping, or doing whatever else- he would find you.

Okazaki discovers a corpse, and then is sent to do some investigating.

“You wanted me to leave you to- to what? To actually die?” His hand is so firm on your knee. It burns you. It shocks you like a collar. He doesn’t have to dig his nails in to do it. Doesn’t have to be rough. He can be agonizingly gentle, and it whips you all the same.
“I thought leaving people to die is what you’re good at.”
He stares at you. Pupils small, like a little kid being picked last on the playground. Mouth slightly open. Muscles relaxing like someone giving up.

You’d like it if you could call her crazy. Spit at her in a way she’ll forgive you for next loop. But it feels... true. Something inside you resonates with it. Clicks into place.
“Well.” You sigh, noting the way it hurts your lungs to breathe in. “Maybe it’s in my nature, too."

“I love you.” Hasegawa murmured, his foggy windowed gaze finding the pair of panicked poppy red eyes right above him. He was smiling, blood lazily oozing from his stomach. The wound Kamimura was fighting with, pressing on, desperate to keep steady while Tsuno ran to the med bay.
“What?” He had asked. Dumbly. Stupidly. Fucking moronically, he just... stared. At Hasegawa’s dying eyes. Hasegawa, who didn’t speak again. The last words he ever heard- if his ears heard anything at all- an unanswered question. Unfulfilled inquiry.

The two sit there, staring at each other. In spite of the room’s chill, a certain kind of warmth rushes between them. Nothing that can be excused by the lights, dim as they are. Okazaki squeezes her hand on Watari’s shoulder, and the other girl lowers her eyelids a fraction, leaning closer.
“We’re back with more decorations!” Yanagi calls cheerfully from the suddenly open door. Hayashi trailing in behind him.

“You know...” They begin, voice low to prevent Nishino from flinching. The trap snaps shut, and they catch fiery eyes locked onto them. “...I think you’d make a very good fire dancer, Nishi.”
A warmth settles on Nishino’s face, eyes crinkling as Okazaki fully captures her focus. “You really think so, Hanano?” The girl asks, a wistful quality to her tone.
Okazaki nods their head a fraction. “You have a very graceful figure. And I think the fire would illuminate your eyes beautifully.”
Nishino hums, pleased. Preening at the praise.
