Summary
Buck has always been different. He sees details other people can’t. He overthinks absolutely everything; it’s like he can’t turn his brain off long enough to relax or just enjoy the company around him. Buck knows he’s intelligent; some people might even think that label doesn’t do him justice, but it feels like it doesn’t capture the real struggles his “gift” causes. Because while Buck might be extremely capable, he can’t seem to hold on to any relationships long enough for the other person to stay. It’s not that he can’t make the connections; he just can’t seem to keep them. And maybe that’s why he stopped trying, why he’s become “content” with surviving.
