Geppetto loves his new dear son made of wood Pinocchio VERY *much*- so much, that he wants to keep him safe from all and any harm ...and that includes *EMOTIONAL hurt* (which he still accidentally causes). When Pinocchio expresses a wish to go to school like other 'real' kids, his Father who had lost so much before he came along gently tells him that the outside world is a dangerous place, and that he will be laughed at and told by the other children and adults that he's hideous- deformed/disfigured compared to other children. No; it is *MUCH better* to stay in here, where it's safe... Pinocchio doesn't quite understand, and is not a little hurt, but says that he does in order not to upset his Father.
-But how can one become 'real' if they are shut away from the world??
Seven years later, Pinocchio comes across a MUCH *different* Fox and Cat duo when they try to hide in his and Father's home to get away from the people chasing them, offering him a deal in the process...
