Summary
Alpha, king, angel-- Aziraphale is set on a course to select a mate from the one hundred tributes his chief advisor, Saraqael, has gathered for him. As king, it is his duty to get married, mated, and produce heirs.
Crowley is an omega, a demon, and a tribute-- an unholy trinity for the demon who has had nothing but bad luck since his parents were killed in the war, most notably by the mother of the king that he's been sent off to potentially marry.
Well, Aziraphale will go along with the marriage and the mating, but he has no intention of producing any heirs. He selects one the tributes, the sole demon omega among the hundred, and makes a deal. He'll give him a luxurious life where he's free to live however he wishes in the sea palace, hundreds of miles away, and Aziraphale gets his mate that has no desire to give him any heirs while living in the main palace with his books.
However, as the angel and the demon grow closer together, through pleasant encounters and hateful characters, they start to realize that the deal might not be as simple as they hoped. That despite all their differences, they just might have been made for each other from the start.

“Yeah, exactly,” Crowley said testily. “That all makes a fantastic amount of sense. I’m pissed because it was supposed to be me asking you to get off your prissy high horse for two seconds to lower yourself to work with me—for the sake of the world,” Crowley bitched.

Two elf mages, both alike in relative lack of dignity, are forced to lay aside a decades-long bitter rivalry to go on a not-so-epic quest to find a book that will, supposedly, help to save the world (someday). A whole lot of tragi-comic arguing and D&D-flavored nonsense ensues.

All of a sudden, he gets an unusual surprise. He starts having vivid dreams, all revolving around his cottage in a sleepy little hamlet in the South Downs. The dreams then start getting a visitor – a truly invigorating figure with long red hair and stunning eyes who seems determined to have the Alpha come pay a visit to his country house.

Aziraphale is insulted when his boss gets him an alpha demon slave to protect the shop and the important (classified) prophecies hidden inside. He is quite sure he can get the job done on his own-- he just needs more than this fucking flaming sword that doesn't work on other angels.
However, his superiors don't believe him that it's angels trying to get into the shop, blaming the demons instead. He ends up with the slave instead, determined to keep him outside and far away from the shop, especially when his boss says he can use the foul creature for his heats should he need him. Demons are not to be trusted, especially not in nests and vulnerable states like heats.
But-- but things slowly change and Aziraphale finds himself getting closer to the creature guarding the shop, this Crowley, who make him start to question just why their society is set up the way it is and who is really benefitting from the angels and demons being at each other's throats. Not to mention, the alphas against everyone else. Poor Aziraphale is in far more danger than he realizes, especially as he starts falling for the demon he once wanted nothing to do with.

Aziraphale lives a quiet life in his comfortable bookshop, kept company by his best friend Anathema after recently leaving a relationship that was no good for him. Every day is a quiet, if a bit boring, but Aziraphale honestly prefers it that way.
However, that simplicity will leave him when he comes home to find that a stranger had somehow gotten into his bookshop, though they don't seem to have any bad intentions.
This is kind of inspired by a story that I've had in my mind for some OCs for about 5 years, but I'm going to be completely honest, when it comes to my no own characters, I'm not super good at world or character building! So I'm going to steal these two characters again and put Crowley through it, like quite literally every other one of my fics :)

It's old news to him, something that he's had to deal with since he Fell from Heaven. The Alpha never put it too much use before, but when an ignorant human decides to try and harass his mate while they are in the bookshop, Crowley uses it for something both surprising and (after a bit of afterthought) incredibly hot.
