But because dating a non-Muslim is taboo in Islam, their only options were all or nothing: a long and uncertain de facto engagement based on his promise to eventually convert to Islam for her, or to cease all communication while they established their careers as international footballers. Anne Elliot is called to Bath following the death of her father. Unwilling to ask her sisters for help and bereft of a position after the death of her employer, an unexpected windfall gives her the latitude to do something she hasn't done in years: what she wants. As she settles into Lyme society, dodges offers from her cousin to "manage her finances," and makes new friends, Anne rediscovers who she is without the demands of others on her shoulder. She's not about to let anyone interfere with her newfound serenity, not even an old flame.
Or: The Crofts never rented Kellynch so Anne and Wentworth never met up again. At thirty-three, Anne finally has the money to decide her own future. Fate hasn't given up on her though and it's only a matter of time before Wentworth returns. -
